Friday commuting down Railway Path, spotted a stolen moped dumped in the wood. Was about to take a photo and report it when another cyclist told me they did on Thursday (I took the bus).

Coming home Friday night, came across this (might have been same moped):

So whilst playing good citizen on my phone to the police...wading through the menu, something extraordinary happened.

A bright light coming towards me with orange flashing lights....was another moped:ohmy:!. A retired cop mate once told me a favourite trick of thieves is to dump stolen vehicles in odd places and watch them for 24 hours to check if they have GPS trackers. So I stole myself in case there was any funny business but no...fast food delivery rider sailed by. Like motorists who park on zig-zag and double yellow lines, he clearly thought that putting his hazards on somehow made it magically OK to ride a moped on a cyclepath.

No, what is the statistical probability of while reporting a stolen moped on a cycle path, another goes by?...

What is the probability of it happening to you....twice?.

A few year ago, on my way home, came across stolen motorbike dumped on path. while reporting it....little scumbags shot past on a pit bike.

The Christmas spirit must be here, I had a driver sit behind me for ages when there was plenty of places to pass. Eventually another driver (a taxi) appeared and peeped or I suspect that they would have been with me to town.

Oh when I got to the station they announced that the train was 14minutes late only for it to turn up about only a minute late. That was a lucky 13mins 🙄

Enjoying the complete lack of traffic on my route in how long it will last for who knows. Put new Aldi ski gloves on plus overs shoes impressed with how warm they are was covered in swet lol first time since late September perhaps slightly to warm for them was 4 when left this morning another day of no rain hoping to do four or maybe five days into work this week as next week looking like rain out.
Quick question does winter cycling take more out of you as was in bed and asleep but 10pm last night not like me at all

Chilly this morning, Pogies without heated gloves just about sufficient for the hands.

The bike is making a rather concerning intermittent clanking noise. Not drive train related as it also happens freewheeling. Never had anything like it before.

Frosty damp start so the studs stayed on. Started getting some shifting issues during last 4 miles which was most likely frozen gear cable as I had washed the bike yesterday lunch. My knackered back (broke it 9 years ago) is playing up a bit with recent cold weather so was a few minutes slower today (combined with fiddling with the gear adjuster).

Touch of frost around, colder than expected. Pedestrians seemed buried in their hoods and not looking stepping out. Taxi and another driver also hadn't been looking - emergency services present at that one. Not the best ride in.

Back on the bike btwin flat bar go to bike in winter easy gear changes nothing, felt coldest its been this week when moving off not looking to break any records, plus some of the roads have salt in them nice dangerous for us cyclist. No traffic third day on trot, enjoying new trips into work stress free will only get better as get closer and closer to Christmas long may it run.

Warmer this morning so switched wheels. Gears fine after being a pain to adjust in the bike shed last night. Barell adjuster on mech must have been full of crud as it stopped turning and I needed to use the shifter adjuster (flat bar). No issues going home so blasted the cable run and adjuster with lube and gunk cleared. No issues this morning, shifting perfect.

I don't think you sometimes realise how much fine crud commuting bikes pick up until it causes an issue.

Grotty on the way home. Decided to ditch the winter top (got changed in the bike shelter) and swap for the waterproof - no way could I have ridden with both on (hot hot hot). Not too bad with rain on way home, but wind picking up into a head wind.

Gears were fine, but I can see the rear cable loop and barrel adjuster needing a good clean shortly to ensure there is no moisture in there as the bike stays at ambient temperature - so can be there at or below freezing.
