That's all.... Pretty new tyre written off too. Somehow managed a hole in the tread and a hole in the sidewall right on the bead.

wet ride in woke up thought about using car snow due later in week so on my bike it was. Reached same road as yesterday cars parked either side you guessed no stopping bowled straight through really getting sick of being driven off road would mind this was my last alternative after being almost knocked off on the main road by careless bus driver in the summer. Rest of ride in wet wasnt fast as took time to get in. Dryiing everything out now for journey home.

Well that was a grim one this morning. It started raining yesterday afternoon so I had a wet commute home. It hasn't stopped and halfway through the commute the rain turned to sleet. It was so very cold too. I am still wearing mitts and that was a mistake. Time to finally dig out the full finger gloves. I think my fingers have finally thawed out allowing me to type this.
Thankfully this rain/sleet buggers off this afternoon leaving the rest of the week sunny and dry but cold.

So.
Rainy commutes #'s 37 & 38 for the year
Same period last year, 52 rainy commutes. A big jump in November 2023 with 11 rainy commutes, compared with 3 so far this November.

Cleaned and fettled my bike on Sunday, felt like an old man on Monday (full of aches) so took the bus in. Felt less achey this morning so rode in, fortunately it wasn't raining, but had rained overnight so the roads were damp, but it wasn't cold enough to be icy.

The bike was beautifully quiet on the ride in and worked like a dream (forgot to guard the brakes) so they took a few dabs to get rid of the protective spray layer. However, it was pretty chilly and I definitely need to look at getting some better cold weather gloves and maybe getting some full length bib tights to wear under my MTB shorts. Hopeful that the weather isn't terrible for the late ride home and that I can avoid any yobbo's that may be on the B2B.

Just a dusting around central manchester. Cold enough to add a buff (and sealskinz Fring gloves) to my normal ride. Stayed off the cyclepaths and took the road in, but I'm sure they'd be fine. Just the usual drivers creeping into the cycle lanes to deal with.

Not any snow resting in London this morning on my commute, but...
1. snowing heavily
2. Temperature around Whitechapel was 0.1C on my commute
3. Strangely lack of other cyclists on roads today
4. busses fuller than usual
5, Fewer pedestrians
6. Seemed to be more motor cars on the road than usual

I'm totally at a loss to explain points 3-6

On the plus side:
1. I wrung so much water out of my gloves when I got to work that Arthur Ellis measured it with his dipstick and I have apparently won Jeux Sans Frontier as a result of playing my joker
2. There was plenty of space on the drying rail when I got into work and plenty of space for bike in bike shed

Had to go into Bristol today. Waterproof jacket on, and then after getting into town it started snowing heavily.

I left at 1300 to ride back to work in Bradley Stoke & rode up the Concorde Way in driving snow. Galibier deep winter gloves, and calf-length merino socks inside Planet X Das Boots did the job of keeping me warm enough. Warming up and drying out clothing now, ready to ride home later at 1730.

Mercifully yesterday brought a last minute instruction to work from home today, while I've managed to blag the same tomorrow.

Fair play for those of you've who've braved it - tbh this morning's short walk to the dangle-hoopery was enough to convince me that I probably didn't want to be riding in it.

As much as I like the snow I hope it's gone by the next time I have to get out on the bike..

Snowy one this morning, well on cars and fields. Roads just rather wet. Dry this evening, but expecting a harsh frost tomorrow. Gloves were binned on arrival home, just falling to bits and I can't get my little fingers straight in both gloves, so time to go. Might go for the warm road gloves rather than MTB.
