Tales from today's commute....

Cold start, new cycling overshoes kept cold out, half term down these parts so roads empty. After two days off the bike enjoyed ride in. Two idiots decided to pull out in front of me but slowed down as pretty much knew they would pull out at the junction.

While the impetus to recount this morning's mundane journey has faded, images remain..

Don’t you just love the Loop Line through Little Hulton ? It didn’t rain last night so the halfwits and great unwashed came out to play

Idiots aren't they - just like the four lads who tried to rob me a few weeks about. What is going through their heads ?

Pleasant commute home last night (if a little warm), traffic quite light in places where others were a tailback I just sailed past in the cycle lane. Morning cool and still. Low lying mist and it's such a pleasure not having the school run parent's on the road - absolute nightmare for all road users normally. Despite there being big signs outside the schools not to drop kids off, they just stop on the zig zags and double yellows.

Feeling rather tired this week, not affecting the commute times but just exhausted in the evenings - fighting off a little cold.

Today's commute was dominated by the gorgeous weather - a bit chilly but bright and sunny with a blanket of low lying mist shrouding the lowlands en-route with ethereal beauty

Some of the best photo ops were while unstoppably in the car, but I still got a few on the bike; making me a bit late for work.. could have spent hours at it given the opportunity..

Decent commute but on way home, got cut up by a lad on a moped - I was in the bus lane and he in the outer lane and turned left across me. He only halted when he heard my rear brake squealing (I deliberately haven't adjusted my cantis). Told him to look where he was going, he carried on, then stopped to give me the finger. Should have gone after him and scared the little twiglet, but I couldn't be bothered. Made a slight detour on the way home as I could see a bunch of scallies on my final off road climb home, so detoured via the farm track home.

I'd have chased him down, shoved the moped up his arriss and parade him up the road like a giant lollipop.

Got a puncture from this last night. About 5.30, am sure it was all those bottles but they had covered with other rubbish like crisps packets etc to camouflage the glass. Stupidly thought it would be alright but could hear the crunch of glass as I went through and sure enough got a flat almost immediately.

Was getting dark, so just rolled to Walkden Station and got the train home.

Always paranoid with traps like that that there are group of lads waiting in the trees for there next mugging victim so reluctant to dismount and push through.

That is the risk - common on the Fallowfield Loop as I experienced a few weeks ago. Same again last night, but near home, a gang on a 'remote' cut through near home, went the farm track route instead.

On a lighter note, pootled into work this morning - didn't push it. Only two minutes slower than usual. You don't get that sort of accuracy driving 10 miles. Will I be in work in 45 minutes, or an hour and 45 minutes ?

I forgot to report on my commute from the other day, it was quite uneventful until the train home. We stopped at a station and a bloke got on in the full mortal combat uniform. His face, well what you could see of it poking above the leather face mask was totally tattooed. He started talking to another bloke already on the train and seemed quite friendly but that didn't stop one woman getting up and moving to the next carriage!
