I think we need durable evidence of the existence of these sausages. Photos please.

Sadly I think both you and I know the likely fate of the sausages since it's now well past breakfast time; would you like to have an adult present when I break the news to you?

Last night's ride was extended thanks to the unexpectedly warm temperature and lack of rain; my enjoyment buoyed further by more surprise smiley redhead content on the tow path

This morning was bleak but warm and dry barring the fine mist hanging in the air. A headwind to start couldn't keep the smile off my face from simply being out on the bike in tolerable conditions.

A nice peaceful ride laced with the warm comforting smell of autumnal decay and punctuated by the gentle, reassuring patter of detritus hitting my extended front mudflap (and as such not getting stuffed up the bottom of the seatpost tube to cause untold damage).

I had a few nice interactions including with a couple of keen blokes at the monkey bars when I stopped briefly for a bit of decompression. I saw quite a few coots / moorhens (can never tell the difference) and managed to miss the old deaf cat that likes to sit in the middle of the tow path; despite it's increasingly effective camouflage against the carpet of fallen leaves.

The secateurs have remained unused in my bag for the past week or two and I think snippy-snippy season is over with the brambles relenting until next year.

I'm glad to have the opportunity to push the rides out a bit more as often getting out is the hardest bit; although I suspect this will ultimately come to an end as the dark tightens its grip and temperatures fall..

BTW coots are bigger & have the white shield on their heads, moorhens have the red. There's no "R" in coot is how I remember it.

The butcher has gone out of business now. Bestest customer.

I do feel a bit bad... when I first discovered the joys of a pre-work visit it was 3x cooked sausages every morning and a sizeable meat order at the end. I've since come to the sad conclusion that neither three sausages per working day, nor a full cooked breakfast every day of my un-naturally long weekend is sustainable

I often have a healthy number of school kids riding in the opposite direction as I start my commute, so it was good that this impatient driver will be getting contacted by the police for this nasty close pass. I had to stop to let him complete it. He started it at a point when I was clearly visible.

Aha, that was you. Saw this on Xwitter

How is this October I am out on a bike at 6.30am in shorts and a t-shirt long may it continue. Nice ride, complete lack of traffic or cockwombles life is good :smile:_

As like MarkHarry I'm out in shorts and short sleeves too. Very muggy this morning after yesterday evenings torrential downpour. Temps were showing 15° when I left for the station.

And talking of stations, 4 days in and the lady barrier guard said no need to see my ticket as remembered that I have a season. I am I suppose a very recognisable individual :okay:

Slightly cooler this morning, showing 11c. Very damp out and misty in the 'hollows'.

Forgot to add about the Police road block - apparently an industrial unit had gone up in smoke at 11pm last night and it's taken multiple fire engines all night to contain it. They were clearing up as I went past. Employees near the 'unit' couldn't get to work.

Then arrived at work and there was an Ambulance outside. Nothing unusual I thought as NWAS are often at our building, especially as we've a School of Nursing in there amongst others. Blearily wandered in, to be told to 'go round that way'. Apparently one of our cleaners had tripped on our 'spanish steps' (think large stepped area for sitting on) and had fallen some way down and wasn't in a good way. Hope she's OK.

Surprising lack of cars today, I've no idea where they all went, but the usual queues to sail past were absent. Damp under wheel, leggings and sleeves but no jacket felt about right. I've got some thin full finger 'autumn' gloves that are great on days like this.

I use MTB summer gloves. Not too hot. TBH, I'm OK with them most of the winter, other than sub zero days, but that's just me. bit different if you've got Raynaud's.

I'm the same. Fortunately my fingers don't feel the cold, so mitts most of the year round.

Last night was pretty gash..

Started out OK but with a somewhat forboding sky; pushed the ride out a bit and by the time I got to the rings it was getting darker and mid-way through started to rain.

After another demoralising session I got underway in the dark and increasingly heavy rain; the jacket keeping the worst off my top half but I'd not bothered with the faff of the waterproof trousers so my legs got soaked as I gingerly traversed the sometimes poorly defined boundaries of the tow path.

Back to the car and back home; being tailgated in the pissing rain for most of it and arriving back at the village to find nowhere to park and cars scattered with gay abandon by the selfish, arrogant and hard-of-parking.

Another one I was very happy to close the front door on and forget about..
