Found the chain was really rusty this morning, despite not being ridden in the rain this week.

Bunged loads of oil on.

Bunged loads of oil on (I keep oil at work for this eventuality).

Have concluded the oil elves must be licking it off between rides.

Canal paths. They’re so overrated. Easy, boring, mucky, pedestrians, dogs and runners. Feels like there are traffic lights every 50 metres. Constant bell pinging.

Every so often I think it’ll be a nice change. Never is. Back on the road from tomorrow.

All valid points; I'd also like add rampant puncture risks too. That said, I'm lucky to have some well-surfaced examples on my commute and they do bring no cars (and a corresponding lack of noise, pollution, dickheads and death-risk) as well as some lovely green scenery and generally sound folks..

They are pretty quiet at 7am, less so in summer evenings. Gave up on the canal route as it was just too muddy and was eating my drive chain.

Warm this morning with a fairly clear sky upon leaving the house. Cooler and overcast with the odd spot of rain while unfurling the bike from the back of the car. Tired and somewhat miserable, but perked up a little by a nice lofi house soundtrack.

Plenty of people on the tow path, most of whom seemed sound and today's theme seemed to be parents jogging to school with their cycling kids.

Thanks to the proclivities of the Mp3 player at around 2.5 miles in the Harrison BDP incongruously gave way to Iron Maiden's Seventh Son album; making the relatively sedate journey a whole lot more epic.

Manouvering the bike over obstacles (like the lock at Iffley) has been particularly fun today as the bag is especially heavy and my back is still complaining after a weekend of dragging ivy off the side of the house.

Scored sausages, got to work just on time. An unremarkable ride, but a ride none the less
