Not as fun today along the guided busway and Loop line, both routes were like glass 😡
Pity the councils who want more active travel cannot even attempt to make it safe for none drivers

At least they grit some of the Bristol to Bath path and a ring road path round here. That looks totally impractical for anyone without studded tyres!

A thin pair of sealskins under the Galibier Deep Winter gloves wasn't enough to keep my hands from hurting this morning, it was showing -9 on the country lanes. Maybe the cuffs are too tight.

Beautiful morning.

They never grit this route even though the local council keep pushing the active travel policy !
Tried it this morning on my fixie but gave up and headed back on the road to work

Beautiful clear morning, but absolutely nithering!

Hoping to get off a bit early and head for the snowy hills for an hour on the way home, we'll see.

Cheeky 35km and 500m climbing on the way home.

Amazed by the performance of the ice spiker tyres; a really steep and quite technical descent covered in thick, slick ice was no problem at all.

Another nippy one. Four days with some challenging weather, falling snow on Tuesday, freezing pea soup fog on Wednesday, minus 7 yesterday, and today, a fresh sprinkle of snow on the ice.

Double digits will be a shock next week.

I ducked out of one of my commutes (W'dfH) and only commuted today and it was only sub zero in the morning (a comparatively mild -6.4deg). That was going up the last hill to work a short and steep hill (0.16 mile at 7.3%) that was enough to get a wee bit of blood back into my chemo induced Reynaud fingers. Lol, I almost screamed in agony  I certainly couldn't have done a full week of it :bravo:

Fixie used for the latter half of the week due to the ice. Looks like the rain has arrived so the ice will be gone soon

Storm came through last night, was pretty good when I looked out at 05:30, wind had calmed and I could see some stars. Twigs and branches everywhere, all routes clear. Warmer than last week but I felt cold at first this morning-- whether cold or hot it's the humidity that gets you.

Today is my winter solstice- sunset after 16:30 (16:31). Should say my first winter solstice as I have a second one on Feb 8th.

I had a decent ride in this morning, getting used to the Boardman and the shifting, I fitted a new computer & light mount which made things less cluttered.
The saddle has a little creak so need to sort that, but it is a leather one so should be nothing sinister, I also used my new Galibier Minstral Golves which where brilliant, lets see how they are in the rain later.
