England : London Sunday London ride

Take your time with it Ian, I think my keenness to return to riding last year contributed to the much longer lay off!

I did Rye and back with avanti, small crash on the way down, big bonk on the way back. hideous
Yes but, your knees have barely trembled in their short history. I suspect, listening to the radio, that Ian's knees are elevating him from the sofa as I write.
Who could give that second goal? I never saw it on radio...a ridiculous decision IMHO  Apparently the steaks are so high. Serving rotten food at Wembley are they?

You should have given me a shout - the washington is my local! Lcc bumbling was too slow so my mates and I ditched them in favour of some Richmond park laps. The friend is easily speedy enough to join the SLR, although shes on an old hybrid!

Meet on the north side of the roundabout on Prince Charles Road on Blackheath http://tinyurl.com/bqs3xmx at 06:15 for an 06:30 departure.
Ride the route of the marathon on roads closed to traffic from 07:00.
Cross the finishing line on the Mall sometime before 09:00, go for breakfast somewhere in Southwark.
Anywhere in the proximity of the marathon is generally a zoo and unrideable after 09:00.
I'll not be doing this if it's raining.....

User10571's idea could be good depending on how I feel after FNRttC. However for anything else, there isn't a hope of me getting into London (living only 3 junctions away from the marathon course)

Hmmm I might just try out the new commute from Camden to Crews Hill if no one's about. (I can't do 6.30)

Interested...... But might be on a curfew. I need the weather to be good enough for cycling, but not good enough for gardening ;)

You should see the state of my garden.... If it's good enough to be outdoors, I'll give you one guess what I'm doing.....

D'oh! I won't be out on Sunday. Even if I got to Blackheath for 6.30 which is perfectly do-able, I wouldn't be able to get home again cos the marathon would have started by the time I wanted to cross Blackheath again. :banghead:

FYI, by the time we've finished and returned to SE Londres, Blackheath will be like a ghost town.
I first did this on my own about three years ago, arriving on Blackheath at around 10:00, an hour after the start of the race.
What was really weird was all the corporate effort being put into place to eradicate any evidence of the event having ever taken place (including the effects of a machine which went down the route and made the ubiquitous blue line disappear....).
It was verging on the creepy.
By the time we're done you'll not have any trouble getting home.

As an aside, I fully intend to take advantage of anything which might be construed as The (norty) Limehouse Link Surprise....

For the record.... assuming this happens, I'll not be waiting for any latecomers.
Now is probably as good a time as any to PM me with a request for my moby if you don't already have it, on the basis that if you are coming I'll expect a call (not a text, pls and thank you) from you on the day to confirm participation.
In which case I'll be happy to wait for you.
