Just been watching the "discussion" about this in Westminster Hall

There were about 4 or 5 MPs there - the ones that spoke were clearly passionate and believed there was a problem
but given the attendance I can;t see it making any difference

NordVPN - just for a month as a trial. Seems fine so far. Watching Paris-Nice via a French connection but depending on the broadcaster, you may need to create an account and turn-off any ad blockers. Just feeling my way at the mo - seems okay so far. If you want english commentary, may have to use stream based in say Australia or New Zealand etc.

A colleague at work knows a pro cyclist and they apparently believe some change is going to be made.

Let's hope so. Surely as a business model - TNT would rather thousands of UK and Irish cycle fans pay say £15 a month but can only access cycling, than lose this additional revenue by the fans using and paying for other options - e.g. VPNs. No-brainer really.

I would be hoping somewhere below that.

It all depends how many pay what. Some of the VPN users are still paying WB by subscribing to Max!

I wouldn't pay more than £10 maximum, probably not even that.

Yes - it looks like a Google account's geolocked to the location where it's created - the SBS app wasn't available when logged in to my original UK account. I'm using a Chromecast with Google TV & have installed a vpn app on that - I set my location to Australia, created a new Google account, and then the app was available. I did have to manually search for it myself on the Play Store - the Chromecast's search function didn't find it. Just watched Strade Bianche using it, vpn set to Australia.

Set up Aussie Google account with VPN and got SBS app working, but the picture quality is terrible, lots of buffering and resolution drops, might be my internet connection, but when I access SBS via the browser app as mentioned earlier, the picture quality is great.

I don't use Google a/c - just the local connection and so far, the picture re Italian and French broadcasters has been excellent and my Italian and French language skills are improving no-end!! 😉

I think I might be the only one actually watching through TNT. I got a great deal through EE, I was looking to replace my TV anyway and they had an offer that meant I could get the TV and TNT subscription for £15 per month extra on my mobile bill. It effectively means I got the TV slightly cheaper than it was in the Curry's sale with 2 years' interest free credit and TNT is free. I certainly wouldn't have been forking out otherwise. The coverage seems to be exactly as it was when it was a Eurosport stream on D+. I suspect all that will happen with cycling fans voting with their feet is that eventually they'll cut back on the coverage. I doubt many people are going to pay the full price just to replace what they used to watch on ES and those who want the football will have already had the subscription.

Hi Pross.

I wonder if there are any stats around - or will be soonish - about the number of people on TNT a few months ago v. now

in other words how many people have actually moved across as a result of the change

probably lost in a swamp of data including all sort of other stuff

but if anyone sees anything - please let us know

It's nice to watch cycling, but I'm not enough of a fan to care when I do have access to it, I often just had it on in the background whilst doing something else, so not having access has made little difference to me, I was just about ok paying £6 a month, but the price increase was too much for background noise.
