It is guaranteed for 10 years, hopefully will last a good bit longer.

Or do you mean how long can we run on a full charge? In which case it depends on the time of year, the weather and other variables. We very rarely use 16kWh in a day, but it never gets fully charged at this time of year. From March to October we will very rarely discharge it fully, so should hardly be taking anything at all from the grid.

I ment in terms of days.

Good to know.

Pah. Looks like the snow has messed our schedule up.

Schedule is back on track. Instead of three leisurely days - everyone is here today. Approximately a million guys here to sort it all out. I really thought it would be next week thanks to two days of snow - but nooooo.

One question to anyone with panels - is pigeon netting an essential ? We have been quoted £300 for them on our 12 panels.
I haven't noticed pigeon netting on most panels.

No.

We haven't got any. Pigeons tend not to like sitting on the smooth sloping panels.

Ah. Just looked it up. The netting isn't to stop them sitting on the panels, it is to stop them nesting under the panels. I think our panels are too close to the roof for them to do that.

We've had our panels for 11 months now, and I haven't seen any sign of pigeons getting under them.

We’ve ordered it as it is a relatively small cost so we said yes! Much cheaper than sorting it out later. Although it’s an insurance rather than assurance!

Yeah we either pay now and there's no VAT cos it's part of the installation or later when we would have to pay and pay again for scaffolding to be put up.

I mean I could take the bird feeders down - but I'm not going to do that. Even if it does cost a fortune in birdseed.

WHen ours was installed I asked about it
The installers said they used to have problems with pigeons but the newer fixings made the panels closer to the tiles and since they have started using them they have not had a problem with any clients

or so they said
The quote to add they was quite high - but I am sure it included extra profit for them so I am just hoping they are right!!!

I’ve not got them in mine , nobody else locally has them either . Mine or quite low to the roof tiles . Work colleague had problems so he fitted them but it took a few years to materialise. He reckoned it was due to trees being cut for land development!

Ive got a contact ,who reckons the price of solar panels are expected to drop by 40% over the next year or so- production ramping up for the increased demand. Lets see if that comes to fruition

Prices will drop, I’ve noted it in various forums I’m on . Manufacturing has increased in China as they remove the covid requirements. Of course they may not drop as much people think ? I probably bought on the higher side , however they are up and running now !

A friend didn't have the bird protection installed, now wish they had and are looking for someone to supply and fit some.

We specified it as part of our installation, I asked why it was so expensive and apparently its to do with cost of the brackets which secure the netting. they seem to only be available from one supplier at the moment. Our installer had tried to find alternatives without success.

I never bothered with bird protection . Panels are quite low in the roof anyway . Nobody else round here has it either. Plenty trees and bushes round here for all wildlife probably helps

We have lots of birds with many wood pigeons that have nested in our trees before so I’m playing safe in having it installed. Hopefully it’s something we don’t need but better safe than sorry.

I can see the price softening as many other materials I.e. timber are getting back to pre pandemic levels but I doubt the end consumer will see such a saving.
It’ll get absorbed by the wholesalers and installers in the main but any reduction will help incentivise others to install which has to be a good thing.
