This was the moment that The Great Orator PM Boris Johnson was born for. To give the eulogy of the United Kingdom's longest serving monarch will ensure his place in history, to be remembered long after Brexit is a dim memory for political buffs.

I predict that King Charles Spaniels will soon become the must have small dogs, replacing those 'bug eyed' French Bull Terriers and Pugs.🤔

A friend of mine used to have a King Charles Spaniel. If anything they are more 'bug eyed' than French Bulldogs

Boris the Liar? Why was he even still there? People, including himself, seem to forget he is in disgrace, should have gone over a month ago. His presence tends to interfere with the good work that anyone else might be doing by injecting me, me, me into the picture.

Queen Elizabeth II was already a quiet legend in her lifetime, even more so now she is gone. Last thing we need is more self promoters using her passing to boost themselves, maybe cheapening her memory by association.

New King, new Prime minister, at least the potential for a new beginning. The second Elizabethan era ended yesrerday, the third Carolean/Carolingian era begins, whatever it may bring. (Carolus, Latin for Charles).

I feel the same as many who've already posted - not at all a monarchist but I had a lot of respect for the Queen as a person and I'm genuinely saddened (far more than I expected to be) by her loss.

It feels very odd to wake up and remember that such a consistant, intergral part of our country's national identity is now gone; one who's been present throughout my entire life.

The Queen's departure also feels like another step away from the halcyon days of post-war Great Britain; an icon lost whose image came to represent the legitimate national pride and cohesion of days past in todays climate of turmoil, individualism and decline.

The loss of a truly remarkable woman and the end of an era of unwavering service and dedication.

I don't think any of those left will ever come close to attaining the range or magnitude of respect she rightfully commanded.
