Latest thing I've read - and have no reason to doubt - is that due to the bank hol some cremetoria may not be open, with the result that funerals will have to be postponed because of the funeral.

Just in the middle of organising a funeral (thankfully not Monday) and I think it would be very upsetting for people to have to rearrange at the last minute.

I would sincerely hope that possibly hundreds of people's funeral plans are not disrupted for the sake of one, regardless of who the "one" is.

I feel sure that the "one" would not want extra distress / upset placed on these people by rescheduling.

Just been advised that non-urgent clinics have been cancelled so I can mourn, but appointments must be re-scheduled within 2 weeks. I'd rather not have the day off........ Catching up is going to be a bit fraught

WTF do people feel the need to throw a load of flowers, teddy bears, commemorative cups etc in to Green Park etc. Its going to be a right mess to clean up in a couple of weeks time.

Also what are books of condolences all about, there was one in Luton airport of all places. No-one is going to read anyone else's entry and I'm pretty sure they aren't all going be sent to Charles afterwards. You might as well writ down your happy thoughts and wishes and condolances on the back of the racing post.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
SWMBO's going to offer to work on the Bank Holiday as a) she's got patients who need looking after and b) she's not British and whilst she's following what's going on and has lived in the UK for 40 years it's not a major issue for her.

i would be of a similar mind but my place will be shut so nowt availible and mrs ck would frown on me, i will probably go for a ride

All seemed to start following Diana’s death. I must admit I find it all a bit weird. I prefer quiet rememberance with just your own thoughts is nicer than all this show.

"The books of condolence are not expected to be collected until after the Queen’s funeral. Once closed, the books will be given to relatives of the Queen or archived."

I sure the relatives of the queen will be queuing up to hear the thoughts of Ethel from East Grinstead....

More to capture the publics thoughts. Sure it'll be insightful for historians at some point in the future though

There is going to be a mountain of book of condolences as UK Embassies, High Commissions, Consular Offices around the World have set-up the books. There are even Australian MPs that have set up book at his MP's office.

I think it has do with people wanting to express themselves in order to obtain closure of sort.
