Time to unwatch this thread I feel, it's lost it's purpose & is as usual it's turned into a me, me, me thread.

Not forelock tugging enough for a royalist I think. I'm out because it's too forelock tugging for someone for whom the royalty matters little. Not a republican just someone who can't be that fussed what happens. There's not been a good alternative given which is why Canada, Australia and NZ haven't gone full Republic yet.

Wouldn't it be terrible if the queen's funeral got cancelled because of the BH!

WTF do people feel the need to throw a load of flowers, teddy bears, commemorative cups etc in to Green Park etc. Its going to be a right mess to clean up in a couple of weeks time.

And balloons apparently, which are awful litter.

Some bloke on the BBC reported this as if it was a good thing. It's all just litter.

I wonder if the Windsors will be contributing to the clean up costs.

I'm wondering if I'll see a third monarch in my lifetime. Perhaps, if I keep taking the tablets and avoid dangerous sports and war-zones.

I'm only slightly older than Prince William so there's an outside chance I might make it to four.

Isn't it funny how most of us with children would wish to live lomg enough to see them grow up and fulfil their potential, become all that they can be, but for those in line to the throne, absent abdication that can never happen.

650,000 waiting to see a coffin.Me I am watching YouTube instead of telly.Did not like or dislike Her Maj,but she meant totally nothing to me.I was not in her circles nor she in mine. But we are all different but I cannot understand the tears of people who she never even knew existed.

Go very very early…the queue was already hours long by 10am on Sunday when I was up there (didn’t queue!)
The thing with early though is they clear every night so there may be less to look at.

I’m already on holiday next week so I’ll take another day off another time
Thanks for the queue warning @vickster. No problems yesterday when I did a recce of the flowers after work, but Buckingham Palace area was very slow and I can see both areas will be rammed at the weekend when I return with family.

As for flowers, they are cleared TO the parks each night (from other locations such as Buckingham Palace gates). The flowers in the park remain in place, and will not be removed until late September.

In other words, the display should get larger and more impressive by the weekend, so it's worth a 2nd visit.

I'd also like to drop by after sunset. A lasting impression from Kensington Palace 25 years ago was the perfume from millions of flowers in the still night air by candlelight - indescribably amazing.

Have to confess I had a lump in my throat watching her leave Scotland for the last time.

Unfortunately the Queen’s death has coincided with a huge leadership vacuum in government and also some organisations. The ridiculous interpretations made by the police, centre parcs and now British Cycling should not have happened. It resonates with the early days of lockdown rules.

Why do you care?

Actually with micro plastics in the environment I do wonder why you do not care? Plastics from flower packaging, cuddly toys, balloons, etc might not all be safely disposed of indeed if it does there's strong indication plastic ends in landfill and still gets into wider environment.

%hen there's landfil itself. I once watched a programme which investigated an old landfill that was long out of service but was actually starting to fall into the sea. They found a lot of plastic waste that still was clear enough to read the writing on synthetic clothes labels from 60s, 70s and 80s.
