I use Connaught shaving. Well, when I say 'use' since I went to a DE about 4/5 years ago and bought a brush and a Merkur something or other I've only had to order from them a couple of times. A selection of shaving creams and a couple of blade sample packs.
Only thing is with the sample packs, by the time I've used them all I can't remember which ones i liked most. The present ASCO ones are horrible though - only lasting a couple of shaves at best.
And +1 for the twist out alum bloc. I may have to eventually replace it due to usage instead of breakage.

May seem a big initial outlay compared to the multi-blade offerings, but when you can get 65 blades for £12.50 instead of what 1/2 dozen? I like the lack of waste with them too, both aerosol foams and blades. Didn't our throwaway culture start with razor blades?

Yep - mine shattered on the tiled bathroom floor. Replaced with a RazrRock, which is an alum block in a tube, like a twist-up deo stick. Mind you, I use a styptic pencil these days to deal with any nicks as I find it far better than an alum block in that respect.
Stypic powder and a cotton bud for nicks round ours. Bloc Osma is more a post-shave treatment though it does have stypic properties. (and tastes sh|t, so don't use it if you're gonna get kissed.)

All this talk of shaving makes me want to try a real razor and a bristle brush etc.
Mach 3 turbo blades don't last long and the money spent is crazy.
I guess buying this lot will cost more up front but work out much cheaper in the long run?

Someone recommend me a shop or website I can buy the original shaving equipment please

though I often just use amazon and fleabay to buy Feather brand blades in bulk

+1. I tried out a couple of tester packs from Connaught before setting on Astra Platinum, with Feathers for special days. The choice of blade and razor is about as personal as a Brooks B17 or a Charge Spoon....Takes a while to find out the combination that suits you. They also do tester packs of soap and I tried these too before settling on Taylor's Sandalwood. But I might try the Almond too - but I'll stick with the B17 on my Hybrid, thank you.....

I started thinking the same after reading this, I would also be interested to know where everyone shops.

oh come on. Nothing compares with Feather. Massive vfm as they stay sharp for what seems like forever.

I ride B17 and Spoon. But I'll only use Feather. Go figure.

I was expecting something special after reading similar opinions on Feathers. Can't say I was all that impressed, they're ok, but I get similar results from Gillette's.

You can't beat a blow lamp and B and Q paint scraper with Swarfega as an after shave. It's a once in a lifetime experience. ;)
