Merkur 34c with astra blades, an eBay job badger brush. Currently super lathering arko shave soap and Taylor of old bond street sandalwood cream

Finished off with a alum block, which I dropped this morning, and it smashed into a million pieces on the bathroom floor. Turkish lemon colonge and nivea post shave balm

+1 Almost exactly the same but Taylor's soap and Arko cream. Not tried an alum block though....

Stuff really works! Used wisely, keep it dry and in the box, it will last a lifetime, or at least until next Tuesday - I've had mine for ages.
Don't tell noodley because he'll think I've got a tiny one.

Most importantly of all, don't drop it. Don't ask me how I know it is as brittle as a pane of glass....

Yep - mine shattered on the tiled bathroom floor. Replaced with a RazrRock, which is an alum block in a tube, like a twist-up deo stick. Mind you, I use a styptic pencil these days to deal with any nicks as I find it far better than an alum block in that respect.

I use the flip out clipper bit of my boggo rechargeable once every couple of months to take my beard back to something resembling a badly maintained putting green, then just let it go again until I get more food trapped around my mouth than in it. I mush the normal razor bit between my eyebrows to stop them meeting in the middle about once every month or so and that's about it...

Currently sporting 3 plus weeks of non maintained growth. Will clip it down to manageable shaving length this evening and then use a disposable to remove the rest as I have a wedding to attend this weekend. Shower gel works for me instead of shaving cream.

For a quick one I use an electric shaver or a Gillette PowerGlide ProFusion, or whatever it's called when having a wet shave.

I know a few blokes who have moved over from the cartridge shaver to the tradition DE and have preferred them although I'm told it requires a different shaving technique. I'm picking up a Merkur this weekend, I'll let you know how I get on when I'm back from A+E

All this talk of shaving makes me want to try a real razor and a bristle brush etc.
Mach 3 turbo blades don't last long and the money spent is crazy.
I guess buying this lot will cost more up front but work out much cheaper in the long run?

Someone recommend me a shop or website I can buy the original shaving equipment please

Right that's it you have me interested, i have always used a Gillette did once try an old fashioned razor back in the day, but it cut me to pieces, tempted to pick up a starter kit as I always like proper soap and a brush but hated the razor, if i was to give this go what's a decent website to check out and a brand of razor? on top of this my face is pretty sensitive thus why i use the Gillette's with king of shaves.

Any pointers or help would be appreciated, then i can go dive in and see how i fair

YouTube has plenty of reviews on the Merkur brand of DE blades, German engineering at its best apparently.
