When someone's waiting for a lift why do they stand right up to the doors, then seem surprised that they have to step back a few feet to let people out when the doors open?

Is it a lack of common sense that prevents them from leaving some room in the first place?
They probably do the same on the railway platforms and the luggage belt at the airport.

As above, common sense isn't

Why is it that radio presenters can introduce themselves but TV presenters introduce each other?

E.g On the Today programme "Good morning from me, Amol Rajan", "and me, Nick Robinson", but on the One Show, Alex Jones says "Welcome to the One Show with Roman Kemp', then he says "and Alex Jones".

It’s because with radio the listener can only discern who is speaking by recognising the voice. On TV there are visual clues.

I understand that on Radio the presenters have to identify themselves but why can't Alex Jones say "Welcome to the One Show from me, Alex Jones", followed by Roman Kemp saying "and me, Roman Kemp"?

I don't understand what seeing them has to do with it.

We have armed police in Meadowhall and I want to know, under what circumstances are they authorised to shoot? Because opening fire in a crowded shopping centre seems like a really daft idea to me.

Why does London have less than double the population of Yorkshire and Humber but 5x the numbers of armed police? I know they have the houses of parliament and the royal palaces, Heathrow etc but still....?

Westminster probably has more armed police than most of the rest of the UK.

It would be better to look at the number of armed police in the outer boroughs of London. These would be very different to the centre and probably more representative of the area and more in line with Yorkshire.

What was the name of that tv cookery program quite a few years ago, where contestants were given simple ingredients like for example a carrot, a packet of spaghetti and a pork chop and were asked to make a decent meal out of the ingredients, also being allowed to add herbs, salt, pepper etc? 🤔

They used to pull so many ingredients out from behind the counter it always struck me as a bit of a fiddle.
