Following on from the Friday night music thread, why do trains to Georgia always depart at midnight?

Because I'd rather live in his world.

Why can’t we go back to jug of Cona or filter coffee at places like National Trust (and, indeed, anywhere selling takeaway coffee) instead of the queue creating nonsense of pretentious fancy coffee menus?

Should this be in the things that annoy you thread?

Yes it's very frustrating everywhere. It takes 5 mins per coffee which is usually why you get a long queue. Maybe they should make it out the back and bring to your table when ready, like they do for food

Our Tuesday walking group use the local Spoons for a post walk coffee. There's usually about 10 of us but the queue is rapidly dealt with as they pay and get issued with a coffee mug to take to the pair of " Bean to Cup " machines. This leaves me ample time to see what ales are on and grab my pint 🍺

Why does everyone peel a banana from the stem end? It's just as easy the other way and you then have a little handle to hold it from.

Hey! Sometimes I often go " against the grain " as it were.
Those annoying stringy bits that stick to the flesh of the banana after peeling are called " Phloem bundles " and are there to help carry nutrients around the fruit.
( Michael Cane mode: " Not a lot of people know that " ) 😄

Because that’s when the express trains run.
