Why does London have less than double the population of Yorkshire and Humber but 5x the numbers of armed police? I know they have the houses of parliament and the royal palaces, Heathrow etc but still....?

When someone's waiting for a lift why do they stand right up to the doors, then seem surprised that they have to step back a few feet to let people out when the doors open?

Is it a lack of common sense that prevents them from leaving some room in the first place?

Apparently you can get points on your driving license for offences committed while riding a bike, but not all road traffic offences would apply.
