What was the name of that tv cookery program quite a few years ago, where contestants were given simple ingredients like for example a carrot, a packet of spaghetti and a pork chop and were asked to make a decent meal out of the ingredients, also being allowed to add herbs, salt, pepper etc? 🤔

That could also be the one. I thought of the question when I took a big carrot out of my shopping bag and thought mmm, what can I do with that. 🤔

Ooohh err! 😆

Seriously though, if it helps, I think Ready Steady Cook was the one where the contestants were either the red team or the green team and the audience voted for the winner using cards that had either a red or green pepper on it.

At least, I think it was a pepper.

EDIT: It was red tomato and green pepper.

I thought of that question last night when I looked at the carrot I'd bought and thought "Mmm, now what can I do with this"? 🤔 I ended up cutting it up and putting it in a white fish slow cooker meal, along with broccoli, cauliflower and a bit of garlic. Everything was quite nice, apart from the carrot. I've gone off carrots, parsnips, turnips etc. They are so hard to swallow and taste a bit bland.

What's the point of going to see The Blockheads without Ian Dury?

It is no longer acceptable to refer to Native Americans as Indians so is it still acceptable to refer to people from the Caribbean as West Indians?

Is it acceptable to put carrots in a lasagna? My family think not I think it's ok if they are quartered rounds...

That depends on the lasagne. Lasagne is just the pasta sheets, you can make a variety of lasagne meals with them. The one we traditionally just call "lasagne" is more properly Lasagne Al Forno. Which doesn't usually include carrots in Italian recipes.

A Lasagne bolgnese would have a bolognese style meat sauce, which will often include carrots.

And of course a vegetarian lasagne will usually include carrots.

And - if you’re cooking it, and you think it’s ok, it’s ok 😉
