Why do Currys charge £3.99 for 3-5 day delivery but do 2-3 day delivery for free?

View attachment 701919

Does the "Items dispatched from a third party supplier" change if you change the delivery option?

If not, it could be a special offer from the third party, which Currys are passing on perhaps?

It does seem very odd, particularly for something of that size, where it is unlikely to be dispatched by a cheaper delivery service.

No - I've just bought the item with free 2-3 day delivery!

My question is about the value of gold at current scrap prices, bearing in mind those prices change hourly though not too rapidly. If you were to buy an 18 carat gold item weighing 19.02 grams for £1,099 and the price of 18 carat scrap gold as I post is £34.59, would it be better to buy the 18 carat gold item rather than a 9 carat gold item weighing 54.44 grams for £1,999.00 with the current price of 9 carat scrap gold at £17.08? 🤔 I'm 99 percent sure 18 carat would give a better scrap price, but I would like to know the difference percentage etc wise. I think @Alex321 might know the answer as he seems quite clued up about these things. :okay:

Use the calculator on your phone to work out cost per gram
Just for info Kev, ll in Welsh is pronounced as th in English so wouldn't work in Australia.

Yes, one of my closest friends is a native Welsh speaker, there's a lot of to and fro ribbing when the rugby is on. 😁

Is this a wind-up? I need to know before I visit Llanelli ...

It isn't really quite right. It is a much more sibilant sound than "th". You say it with the tongue behind the teeth, rather than over them.

But that sound doesn't really exist in English, which makes it difficult to write down an equivalent.

"Dd" is actually closer to the soft "th" (as in hythe rather than in path)
