Edam "I'm disappointed I. You sir ..!"

I find Edam though only given a 1 strength/taste rating to be quite tasty and stronger than a mere 1! Lancashire, although the official cheese of the county of my birth is pretty bland to me, meaning I very rarely eat the stuff, though my mutt does like it.🧐

I bought this bottle of Advocaat the Christmas before last. I've kept it on a work surface in my south facing kitchen since I bought it. Last night I fancied a glass of it, but when I shook the bottle I noticed it had curdled on the bottom, I shook it again, but the bottom bit didn't mix together. I can't find a best before date on the bottle and with it being alcohol I thought that would've preserved the contents, even if it is like custard with added vodka. My question is, even though it's curdled at the bottom will it be safe to drink? I suppose I should've kept it in a cool place out of direct sunlight and maybe not kept it this long, but I thought that if I didn't open it, it would last for a few years before 'going off'.🤔

Maybe I could drink the stuff, then when it gets near to the bottom just bin it to avoid the curdled bit? 🤔

@Accy cyclist don't drink it, it went off.
The eggs!
Bet it tastes vile anyway, should you want to drink it.
Here
I've just found 'Once opened keep refrigerated and consume within 6 months' in small print on the bottle, but I haven't opened it yet so...

I also found this number.

Is that a best before date I wonder? Anyway, tonight I'm going to open it and have a taste. If it tastes ok I'll drink it. If not, I'll bin it. 🧐

When on long rides only my right hand ever goes numb, left's fine never a complaint. Anyone know why it'd effect one hand more than the other?
With me it's the left hand that tends to go numb - I put it down to the right getting more movement with gear changing and braking, plus possibly a watch being worn on the left wrist.

I suggest you drink 3/4 of it in one sitting. If you are ok next day then you can finish the rest.
No need to thank me🙂

I opened it and had a sip. When I opened it some kind of dust came out the bottle. It smelt a bit musty. The advocaat tasted ok, but a bit earthy. Yes, I could still drink (or eat as it's that thick) it, but there wouldn't be any pleasure in it!🧐

Weird isn't it. My mother hardly ever drank but I recall her sipping one of these around Christmas time. That would be mid 60s. Looked vile to me.
Wasn't there an advert for a specific make of it which did the rounds each year?
