Why have 'they' stopped putting plastic lids on large yoghurt pots?
You buy one large enough to last you 4+ days but there is no way to seal it. I end up wrapping tin foil around it.

Probably to transfer the costs to the end user.

So they can put hand on heart and say “we’re using less plastic packaging”

A good solution to this is to get a reusable silicon stretch lid. We have a set, and use them all the time instead of cling film. Just wash and re-use.

There was I walking around the local cemetery yesterday when a police helicopter flew way overhead. I then wondered if the pilots in those things are police officers that became helicopter pilots, or helicopter pilots who became police officers, or are they just helicopter pilots employed by the police? 🤔

Generally ex forces helicopter pilots, with a few commercially trained ones.
The observers are generally police trained observers.

£42,092,178.54

Useful calculator:-
https://www.in2013dollars.com/uk/inflation/1815?amount=400000

The other way around - £400k in 2022 would be worth £3,801 in 1815.

Oh, 'only' £42,092,178.54 then. I was way out! I asked because I heard on the radio earlier that the Duke Of Wellington was given £400,000 from 'a grateful nation' ( I bet those working in mines or working the land etc at the time were all for it ) for being victorious in the Battle of Waterloo. Not bad eh! Over 42 million quid for sitting on his horse well away from the front line, while the peasants were getting blown to pieces!
