Hello all,

New to cycling as an adult.

Hoping to shed some pounds and get fit again.

Anyone know of any good cycle shops in East Herts?

Hello folks.

It's odd because so many of us cycle as kids and then return to the bike when the body has been utterly abused by drink, fags, etc...

Well, that is me, at least. I am attempting to become addicted to MTB rather than beautiful (but life shortening) legal toxins and am a couple of months in. I have MOD land behind my house in Farnham that has absolutely awesome trails and hopefully I will gain some skills to justify the cuts and bruises.

History: I have cycled the Coast to Coast on a borrowed mountain bike and this hurt. I have cycled from London to Hastings to Farnham on a £99 mountain bike made from lead and rocks and this hurt more that the Coast to Coast.

Current: I am four months into the ownership of a Boardman MBT Team and am now actually training (rather than relying on bloody-mindedness) to do the the 7 Stanes (blue runs) in 3 days in April.

I stumbled across this site when looking to see what people thought about SPD use for MTB riding. The census seems to be "stick with it" which is what I was hoping, despite the many, many falls I have had. Soon I will be awesome, or unable to ride.

Moderate will never do.

Cheers.

hello,
Thought I'd join to see if I could pick up interesting tips. I commute on a Dahon folding bike which is fun. I've done the London to Brighton on knobblies which wasn't.

Hello

To the selfish, nasty lycra lout who rear ended me in Chiswick High Road this morning knackering my gears, never apologised and then responded to my plaintiff cries that he had damaged my bike with a dismissive "Oh, F*** OFF!" as he sped off down the road. Well, Karma will find you out. It always does.

Anyway, Sorry my first posting had to be a gripe. But I love the site and have spent many a lost hour following various conversations and finally felt compelled to sign up today.

I'm a Twickenham boy, Been commuting into to Canary Wharf and now West End on bike for the past 5 or so years so pretty much have had every cycling experience good and bad under my belt including several "near death" experiences (which seem a London cyclist's rite of passage).

Looking forward to being part of group of like minded souls (except that bloke in Chiswick this morning) and slipping in my two penneth worth to any interesting chats.

God Bless
