Hi Hatties and welcome to Cycle Chat.
I saw your other post in the 'Learning' thread.

Well ask away and get involved. That is what the forum is for. There is a specific part of the forum for beginners so get stuck in and ask questions and get some good advice.

Have you checked in your area for Bikeability training? That would help you re-master cycling on the road and help give you more confidence on the bike.

Yep I have. I definitely need help. But it looks like my local council doesn't subsidise the lesson. So far I've found one instructor who can provide lessons in my area but it's nearly £50 for just one lesson (2 hours)... It's a bit too dearer than I thought.

On the other hand City of London subsidises the lesson for those who work in the borough. It's £8 per lesson. I would probably book one (or two) there. Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not one of those bankers!

hello! Another new rider here, I learnt with a bikeability instructor last year when it started to look as if my small daughter would be riding before me. That's her in the picture, sulking at her balance bike because it would not balance and did not have pedals. I can recommend taking lessons 100%, it really helped build my confidence and my riding skills. I have the Marin Stinson that I bought to learn on (when I thought I'd only be pootling down the canal towpath once a week, ha!). It's been joined by a Specialized Hard Rock now, that I use for offroad riding and for towing my daughter's trailer, and by a Specialized Vita in the last week. The theory is that I'll sell the Marin.... Anyway, great forum, I look forward to being part of it!

Hi i'm from Blackpool. Just started cycling this year after about 15 years, after my brother in law lent me his old bike which is a ribble. Although not done too much recently.

Hi. My name is Ethan (bloke in the photo ;)) , Im a 19 year old student from Llandegfan In North Wales/at university in Manchester.
Pretty new to riding as a whole. I loved getting out there on the mountain bike back in Wales, but since moving to Manchester I've got my hands on a Roadie which I adore. Road cycling has become my main hobby, and Im really looking forward to summer so I can get out and do some proper long distance stuff.

Hi all,

My name is Adrian, I'm 25 and live in Oxford. I was first introduced to road cycling about 6 months ago when my previous bike was nicked, have not looked back since then (well, until my Specialized Allez Elite was stolen yesterday). Will hopefully make it back onto the road soon if I get insurance and can afford another bike. I've covered over 2000 miles in my first 6 months commuting to work in Didcot and back every day (all weather and season!), and absolutely love it!

When the light and weather gets better and I have a new bike I'd really like to get into some more long distance stuff. The most I've done so far is about 45 miles around Oxfordshire with a mate last summer.

Thanks
