Hello to all just joind. Just started cycling as the knees ars shot from too many years of running. Bought a B. Twin 3 from decathlon and realy enjoying my trips out. Doing an average of 20 or so miles 3-4 times a week with at least a 33 miler in there time permitting. Live in the peak district so plenty of hill work to keep the heart and lungs working hard. Bye for now

Good evening.I have been back on bikes now since 1996 when I fell on hard times and HAD to cycle. Now I ride MOST of the time 'cos I want to.Mainly commuting, but I do use the bus and train which is where my beloved Brompton comes in handy.I am also a big fan of singlespeed and fixed.

Hi,

I'm from Horley in Surrey (Near Gatwick airport in England for non-brits). Been cycling for years mostly commuting, light XC and road based stuff (nothing competitive) on an aging Giant hartail MTB and a naff Claud Butler hybrid.

Recently took the plunge and picked up a Specialized Secteur Elite roadbike (2010 model clearance bargain). Looking forward to cranking up some decent road mileage and getting the old Giant back to full off road spec.

Looking forward to contributing to your forums!

Ta muchly,

Wades.

Hello all

Piers from Belfast here though my online name is Stiffpilchard (a tribute to Cliff Richard - I would probably rather listen to a stiff pilchard to be honest).

I am currently in my 5th week off work since being wiped out by a careless non-seeing driver while cycling to work on 22 July. My pride and joy, Trek Alpha Series 1000 has been written off, and although no bones were broken (incredibly), I am slowly mending. Extensive soft tissue damage in my shoulders and chest, concussion (and post concussion memory lapses) and problems with my left arm and wrist - all a barrel of laughs.
The police are considering prosecuting the driver for undue care and attention. he 3 witnesses have backed me to the hilt and to be fair the driver has held her hands up, admitted responsibility and said that she just did not see me.....or at least not until I had hit her car and flown over the roof and landed on my head and left shoulder. Considering I was probably doing close to 30 mph, I got off pretty lightly.

My cycling before then consisted of 7 daily miles to and from work and evening and weekend rides preparing for the Dublin-Belfast-Dublin Maracycle on 24/25 June - great fun and hopefully I will be mended and available for next years!.....on a new bike!
