HELLO CYCLE FANATICS, in my spare tyre... i mean time, i put together my 'creations' from any old bike parts i can find.

Looking to pursue my cycling interest furthur and learn more about the cycling world and maybe even ride some more instead of just playing about with used bikes in my workshop.

hi guys!

I used to have a GT hybrid, and since switching it for my new specialized vita elite road bike, there's no stopping me! I ride and 18mile round trip to work 4 days a week, and go exploring on the bike at the weekend. Longest distance so far is London to Brighton, but planning some stealthier rides soon!

Hi my Name is Pete i am 39 ... i have recently taken up cycling in the last 6 months (seriously cycling i mean ) since January i have lost 9 stone in weight, i completed the 52 mile London bikeathon this year and for good measure i rode home the 16 miles from the finish line as well, i have been using a mountain bike with road tyres fitted but have just ordered a road bike, i have agreed to do JOGLE next summer so i am looking for tips and routes to follow.
I am regularly doing 15- 20 miles a day and 30 to 40 miles on a weekend ( balancing home life with a bike :S)

congrats on the bikeathon, and the 9 stone - that's amazing!

Hi, Jeremy from Bishops Stortford, although soon to be moving to Mississippi. I was introduced to the site by a guy I met through selling a frame on eBay. Wonderful guy who gave me a load of advice about this side of things. I can build a wheel but as yet I can't post a blog. Quite able to learn though. Particular interests are fixed wheel bikes and tandems.

Hobby wise:

I have been lifting weights for 18 months, strength training essentially (not bodybuilding) which is really enjoyable - but I don't like stationary cardio (or jogging in any form) so my cardio is pretty poor in comparison.

I am into my music, quite narrowminded though  Minimal techno/House/IDM[/electronic generally] - my youtube account has about 300 favorites if you are curious http://www.youtube.com/user/blowbags2008. I like to get out to club nights twice a month.

Other than that I just kill time in the evening with either making music (lighthearted hobby, just a couple of programs not a room of equipment) or playing PC games.

I am getting a little bored some evenings and weekends and want to travel northern europe, the idea of cycling across Europe to places I'd like to visit is really appealing, so I have set myself a goal of my first tour in May next year - planning on Dunkerque (or Calais) to Amsterdam via Bruges with quite a few stops on the way.

Until then I'm going to just gradually train on distance, adding some decent mileage to get me ready for the planned tour.

Plan is to start with a cheap bike - I dont believe in the whole "well I might be cycling to berlin so I'll buy a £900 tourer" mentality, start sensible, get the training in, test if I enjoy it, and upgrade when I outgrow the cheap bike.

Anyway - long enough ramble

"Hello" :tongue:

Hi Shaun. I am a 68 year old man still cycling and touring once a year. I live in Catford, Lewisham, southeast London. Today in preparation for a possible tour I would like to ask a material question. Do I go to 'members' or 'chat' sections for that? Thanks, Jack

Hullo form sunny kent, new to the forum.Come back to cycling after 24 year lay off.

This is due to me loosing my job from a Local Authority and illness.

The idea is get fitter and do what Ioved to do many years ago.

Today Ive dusted down my old Roberts and spun my ken Bird wheels. All seems aok

Not sure about the rider though he's goin to need more than a dusting down.

Any advice. Thanks :hello:

Hi Guys,

Been a lurker for a while and thought I should get round to saying hi.

I'm from South Yorkshire and have taken up cycling again recently after something like 15 years. Started on a £20 BSO from a mate and then after realising I was gonna stick at bought myself a Boardman CX.

Currently cycle to work most days which is a 10 miles away and try to fit in other rides on days off, max so far is around 28miles.
