Hey, Jimmy, welcome to CC. :hello:

Not just a lot of Brits on here but I think there's a fair few Brits who also live in France, as well as Spain and Germany.

Grab some cake and a cuppa and make yourself at home.

Hi All,
I'm Shaun (stoatsngroats from a long time ago!!), and I've returned to CC as I have returned to cycling, met a wonderful woman who is also a keen cyclist, and we're both progressing very quickly to Cycle touring!!! HOORAY!!!

I'll be checking out trailers, campsites on the south coast, Jersey/Guernsey and Northern France - so feel free to offer any advice you may feel worthy!!

Oh, it's great to be back!!

Hello Everyone.

My name is Sandip and I've just joined.
I've been away from cycling for about 20 years and recently bought a bike to get going again. Just doing short locals rides for now, loving it and hoping to increase these to longer ones.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi all,

I've just bought a Rockrider 5.0 after seeing the Gadget show review and reading generally good comments on here. I'm very impressed with it for the money, and Decathlon seems like a great shop.

It was an impulse buy really, after a guy off Gumtree texted me halfway up the motorway to say he's selling his bike to someone else. Didn't even have the decency to phone me, the coward lol.

John, Birmingham.

Hello from Cornwall!

I bought a new bike about a year ago and have been having a great time. I hadn't realised how dreadful my old bike was! I'd saved up and bought it brand new as a teenager, expecting it to be fantastic. £100 seemed an extremely large sum. Clearly, this was a mistake.

My current bike is a Dawes XC 1.1.
I wanted a long distance tourer suitable for a shortarse on a very tight budget, I got a decent mountain bike for a decent price and loaded it up with a shiny rear rack, cheap mudguards, lights and road-ish tyres. It's been great!

This year I upgraded my mudguards and dragged my old bike out to lend to my mum. I oiled it up, checked the tyres and rode it about for a weekend. After a year on the Dawes, the old bike feels like a brick.

A few days ago I was heading to the other end of town to do a few chores and I realised I'd flown past my first stop. I'd been enjoying myself far too much. I haven't had this much fun since I was a kid on my 5 speed!

Hi all, glad to find a nice online thingy to see other cycle people ( we are the ones to see on the roads ) I live in Bristol for about a year now and love this city and its people. Lived abroad all my working life and returned. Have cycled a long time and once raced in 85 fahrenheit and all hills! I always buy a frame or a new bike and rebuild. My bike now was a specialised carbon frame with Ambrosio parts. I love it because it is unique and very comfy to ride. I am at the moment trying to find riders in my area to ride with as the roads I find hard to navigate, being a virgin Bristol rider! Thank you all and enjoy your riding --it is a joy. By the way - I ride tubulars and think riding 20 years ago, but don*t get me started on all the modern s**t!

Hello all,

I'm a long time cyclist, but am new the the site. I live in the Tampa/St. Pete area of Florida. I usually try to ride at least 20 miles a day, but for the next few weeks I'll have to cut it back to about 10 miles a day. As I slipped and fell landing on the top bag that is usually on my pannier rack. Which at the time that I landed on it it had my U-Bolt lock inside of it. I suffered a soft tissue injury and have to go easy on the riding.

Which is hard as I don't drive I go everywhere on my bike.

Hi I'm a cyclist from SL in my twenties. Think I've been cycling pretty much since birth. Going to be watching the TdF every day all summer. Favourite cycle is from New Cross to Primrose Hill, Because I'm a masochist.
