Welcome. Well if you manage to cycle in winter time then you know you will keep going in the summer, and if not don't beat yourself up about it... winter cycling can be nice, especially if you have the right gear - gloves for a start!!!

Hi Everyone, New to the site and this is my first post. I live just outside Bristol (in Thornbury to be exact) and do a regular 20 mile round trip to work on my bike. However, this will be my first winter on the bike so any useful hints on clothes etc would be much appreciated.

I am looking for cycling buddies in the area for weekend rides so please get in touch if you know of any groups in my area.

My bike is a Giant CRS Alliance but will be looking for a proper road bike once the new cycle to work scheme comes around.

Thanks

PeeJay

Hi folks, New to cc and to cycling and live in Cumbernauld. Thought at 47 it was about time to get myself fit after years of smoking (14 months quit) and serious health issues. Bought a carerra vulcan mountain bike about 2 months ago and now up to around 15 miles a day 5 times a week. I know i should have held out for a road bike now as i use it mainly on tarmac, see what 2010 brings.

Looking forward to participating in the forum and learning so much from the wealth of experience you guys have.

Many thnx
G

Hi Wee G and everybody else before and after this post

Well done with the tabs - keep it up eh?

Do you still have knobbly tyres on your MTB if you're doing mainly road rides with it?
A pair of slick tyres will make a big difference to your forward motion.

Hi Longers, many thnx for the welcome. the tyres were the first thing i changed, im using semi slicks which do make a big difference from the 2.35" that were on the bike.

Hi, I'm Lynne in Toronto. I ride to work about 15km (there and back) every day save in the worst weather - "worst" meaning any time there's ice or snow, or when it's raining buckets. My usual ride is a Marin Kentfield road bike which has proven reasonably reliable if unremarkable.

I just received a delivery of an unassembled Pashley Princess, and so I signed up here: there aren't very many English bikes on the road in my town, and I hope to chat with some knowledgeable riders. I've never had such a lovely bike! I'm a bit cowed by it (moo).

Hi. I'm Ken, must be close to 20 years since I was last on a bike and I can't believe I'm off to collect my new bike tomorrow. The intention is to get fit enough to cycle to work (however I might just start with the 2-3 miles to the park and ride to begin with).

I hope to pick up some much needed knowledge.

Ken

Belated  to the CC Forum.
I'm sure there are people on here who can help you with your new bike. Good luck with it and hope you enjoy it!:bicycle:
