Hi
My name's Ben and I'm and 38 from Cornwall and I hate hills! (upward ones specifically) I've I went on a ride a couple of weeks ago with friends on my bike that's been rusting in the shed for about the last five years and now can't figure out why I haven't been cycling more often, Hopefully this forum will make me keep it up

Hi, I'm Illaveago , I'm 61 and as the name suggests if it's broke I will have a go at fixing it. I've recently repaired my friends old BSA cycle which he bent when we were at school in the 60s. He ran into the back of a car and bent the frame. My friends brother had been using it for years without realising it and it was when he was about to throw it out that I said that I would have a go at restoring it. My friend returned a few weeks ago for the Waterloo Bicentenary, he has lived in Australia for many years and I thought that I would surprise him.
I have recently been on a few cycle rides with a couple of friends, not too far 10 or 12 miles in the evenings, it's more freewheeling and looking over hedgerows than cycling, which is fine as I easily get tired.
I forgot to mention I live in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Hi all. Been cycling all my life but got into road cycling 5 years ago. Had a stunning year last year and was looking forward to racing this year. Then last November I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. Thankfully low grade and small. Surgery this year has ruined my body though. Now struggling to do a leisurely commute to and from work (although I hauled my ass around the Dragon Gran Fondo in June). Soon to be getting my Aeroad and hopefully start smashing the KOMs again!!

Hi, I've been cycling on and off for many years not seriously mainly free wheeling and peering over hedgerows. I have had to resort to cycling 12 miles to work at times in the past when my car was off the road and in all weathers and then have to work outside in the dark to try and fix it. Oh! I am a panel beater and sprayer by the way. I have Chronic Fatigue and today I've been away with the fairies, I've been doing too much these past few days.

I am a newbie to the forum and come from Hampshire [Fareham]. Following a big off on Portsdown Hill [our local mountain-all of 100 mtrs] I have been unable to hold the bars on an upright so borrowed sons KMX 'bent trike and become totally smitten by 'the dark side' so acquired a Grasshopper [2 wheel 'bent to the uninitiated] and have just done Coast to Coast and back on it. Is there anyone else out there in the neighbourhood with a 'bent?

Hello  new here from Aberdeen in Scotland.

Did a few races as a junior then a few years off and now slowly getting back into it! Forgot how fun cycling actually is! Plus I've started losing the beer gut I gained so the hills are starting to get easier!

Hello ladies and gents, thanks for the warm welcome and easy process for this forum. New to this forum business. I'm Si, currently living in Hampshire, moving to Scotland fairly shortly (ish). Obviously enjoy pedalling, bit of XC, bit of road and like to mix it up with a little swimming first and a short run after from time to time.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi Shaun
My name is Richie, I have been commuting to work for a few years now , and back last year decided to get myself a road bike, it was a carerra zelos 7 for halfords, all I could afford at the time, but the problem is I just cannot seem to get on with it , I can feel every small stone ,and when I get off I cannot stand straight for a bit , grrrr. I also have a 29inch cannondale mountain bike, of which I feel is quicker and more comfortable, is there anything I can do ,or have I just bought a cheap bike ?????
By the way I am 48 ,run 3times a week and would love to meet up and ride with like minded people , live Barry S.Wales
Cheers

Hello Richie, welcome to CycleChat.

I can't offer much help on your Zelos 7 so I've copied your post to the bikes section where, hopefully, others can give you some advice - you'll find the thread here:

Cheers,
Shaun
