Hello
Thank you for letting me join.
I'm a newbie, and got interested in touring by reading Adventure Cycle touring. .
Well saying that, I haven't toured as yet. . I have a RIDGEBACK HYBRID which I am converting into my tourer.
I think the tour's, I want to start with this bike should be enough, for now.
I live on the Wirral so ideal location for trips into Wales and Ferries to IRELAND and I O M.
I picking component's up as I go on the cheap,as it wasn't in the best shape when I took ownership of this bike.
Hopefully I shall get it done over the winter months and start touring early next year, giving me time to pick up camping equipment aswell.
Hopefully I may see ya on the road early next year.

Hi All,

Neil here. I've ridden bikes of some kind or another since I was a nipper, mostly for fun but as a main form of transport for a while too.

I went for a few years without a bike, whilst going through the usual mortgage, wedding, family thing, but now as a 43 year old, I find myself neatly pigeon holed in the MAMIL category.

I own four bikes (ssshhhh, don't tell the wife!); 2 road bikes, a hybrid and a mountain bike, although my real interest is road cycling.

I have just finished building a Scott Foil and have gone electronic this time, shimano Ultegra Di2 is a-mazing!!

I live in Stretton, Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District, so naturally I love climbing.

I mostly ride alone at the moment, but would welcome the chance to join a group or club at some point to improve my skills as well as make some new friends,s o if you are "local" say hi.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello - took up cycling due to persistant ankle injuries with football & running. Didn't expect to enjoy cycling as much as I am doing! Don't think I'll bother actually return to running now.

Based in Chester, UK.

Hi folks, just joined and like many just back on a bike after a long long time. Got a Brompton through the cycle to work thing which I use for commuting, as soon as I move to somewhere with more storage space I'll be getting something more fun.

Hello, Not new to cycling, been cycling for about forty years and had more bikes than I can remember ranging from fixed wheel Flying Scot to Claud Bulter
tandem. At present I swap between a Dawes Vantage touring bike and a Trek 6000 MTB. I am self employed and have reached a time when I'm thinking i've had enough work, so now is becoming "my time" and more out on my bikes. Well that's the plan

Hello

came here for some bike chat.

I commute on a steel stead Genesis Croix De Fer 20 after my first CdF was stolen. Love to also go longer routes around Warwickshire.

Enjoy tinkering with the bike and am happy doing repairs and maintenance myself its all part of the fun.

Hello

Used to cycle 60 miles a day then passed my driving test and haven't been on a bike since, that was 30 years ago. Have had a on going health problem for the last 10 years and cannot believe how unfit I am.

Anyway decided to get a bike again and OMG I don't ever remember it being that hard, still I'm determined to keep at it and get fit / fitter so will be loitering around for a while.

I'm from the lovely Kent a few miles outside grotty Maidstone.

Hi there,

I'm a long time time mountain biker and recent road cyclist living in middlesbrough.

First mountain bike was a Marin muirwoods about 20 years ago. Currently ride Ibis mojo full size and a Boardman hardtail. Road bike is a Cube Access.
Usually test my self with one endurance challenge a year to keep me motivated. Last year I rode the coast to coast in one day. This year I'm doing the ratrace coast to coast adventure race, which involves cycling, running and kayaking.

Cheers

The PM said I need to say hello, so hello.
I ride a Daawes Accora ( the blokes' one. It's blue and everything). Dunno where it ranks, but she seems a sturdy piece of kit. Which was the major concern because so am I.
Exclusively used for commuting around Leicester and pottering around town. Not really got into the mentality of pleasure riding yet due to lack of free time.
So, yeah. All of that.

Hi all,

I haven't cycled much since I was in my late teens but I've jumped back in the deep end by registering for a Golden Bond place at the 2016 Ride London 100.

The good news is when I jumped on my brand new carrera tdf it was just.....like riding a bike.

Afternoon chaps!

Just getting serious about my cycling now I have two Capital to Coasts under my belt. Looking to do a 261 mile over 5 days cycle in Nevada in November for the charity that I work for and am just in the process of upgrading my wheels from a Hybrid to a Drop Bar so it's all go really!

Look forward to sharing and learning from experiences.
