Just found this very interesting looking website whilst browsing info about rechargeable front lights; but that's another post - ! My wife and I both cycle commute on a daily basis; the heavier the traffic, the more fun we have - ! Something to do with sneering whilst all those 'superior' folk stuck immobile & fuming in their cars as we sail by I think - ! We have ten bikes between us, mostly road types and have recently invested in two Brompton M3Ls, worth every penny - !

Hello Everyone, I've been threatening to get a bike for a while and was lucky enough to get a Boardman bike from Santa. I'm a 43 yr old dad from Yorkshire and am looking forward to losing some weight. First job will be to get a helmet, but what after that ? What do I need ? Oh and this body ain't made for Lycra just yet so what are my other options...... so many questions !!!!

Hi Folks, I just cycle short distances Sunday mornings with my wife to stop the old body seizing up.

Used a Scott hybrid for last 10 years but taken a complete change with Bromptons and Pashley parabike recently, love the mudguards

Hello!

Lifetime cyclist of the daily commute kind just decided with my hubby to get into touring after a cycle tour in Germany with friends last summer. So I'm likely to be back again a lot of times with lots of queries and would be thrilled to talk to other touring cyclists :hello:

Brand new - found this site while looking for info on Ribble bikes
Perhaps not such good value.
And it seems the wheels are a major issue.
Any advice on good value wheels
Also - lots of comments on Ribble customer service - but I hear that PlanetX also not so good
Marc
I've never had a problem with Planet X customer service. I have found them to be really good.

Hi All,
picked up the bike for the first time in 15 years in July and have managed to get 1500 miles in the bank shed a few pounds etc Looking to kick on in 2015 with a few races!

Hi all. Lifetime cyclist that has been off for a 3 1/2 year injury recovery but returning to the road this spring. Unfortunately, I maintained my cyclist calorie intake during that time so have some conditioning to catch up on. I am in the Toronto area and have signed up for an early summer century so I better get riding!

Hi,
I changed jobs recently and don't have to commute down the motorway any more and saw it as an opportunity to get a bike and get fitter. I always played five-a-side football but my advancing years (46) meant that my knees and ankles were taking too much of a beating. I'm not a gym sort of person so needed an alternative method of giving the heart and lungs a workout.
My commute is only 3 miles each way and I initially borrowed an old Ridgeback hybrid which I found adequate for the commute but found myself being bitten by the bug and wanting to do more leisure miles. I ended up getting myself a 2014 Croix de Fer and couldn't be happier. I now commute five days a week and try to get out Friday after work, Saturday and Sunday too. My Santa list consisted of new helmet, pedals and shoes so I guess you could say I now see myself as a cyclist, albeit a novice. I find the whole thing fascinating in addition to being rewarding as I love all the technical stuff too and enjoy reading the posts of those with knowledge.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi Shaun
My name is Mick, I live in a village called Hemingbrough, fifteen miles from York.
Recently got a Boardman Team Hybrid, hardly rode it yet but there's some nice places to cycle to around here
and I'm looking forward to better weather.
My cycling activity at the moment is a couple of miles either way to our local real ale pub
on my old pub bike.
Thanks for the welcome
Mick
