Hi all. Newbie from N.Ireland.

Hoping to get back just a bit of fitness as im the wrong side of 40 now and used to mountain bike. Now resigned to the tarmac due to joint issues so slowly building up fitness. Hoping to get involved in online training sessions such as bkool or zwift in the near future.

Hello everyone,

Originally from Darlington, England but currently living near Paris, France. I commute to work most days 26kms (15miles) 150miles and have racked up just under 6k miles this year.
The route is from Maisons-Laffitte right to centre of Paris, round the 'interesting on a bike' Arc de Triomphe down the old Champs Elysese and then turn of to head south past the Eiffel Tower on to the Montparnasse tower before arriving at Montrouge. Its 99% roads with 10% of it bus lanes, there's a couple of cobble sections around the Arc de Triomphe but the rest is ok roads.
I have a 2013 Cube Nature which has been just ok.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi Shaun

Thanks for the welcome I live in Greenock 30 miles west of Glasgow. I am not a very experienced rider and am getting on my bike to lose weight

Im Suffolk / Essex border and have been reading this forum for ages and finally thought i should join !
I ride with Boxford Bike Club both Road and MTB and dabble in Tri , I was a runner looking for activity with less injury but obviously it doesnt take long to get hooked on 2 wheels . Im currenlty in the market for my first big road bike purchase after making do for far too long on a Giant Defy that is too small for me.

Hiya
I just joined to get some advice really.
I'm think about cycling to work rather than getting public transport.
But I'm a little nervous about going on the road.
And thought I could do with some tips ie safety wear, bikes etc....

Thank you in advance

Bonjourno, Simon originally from Loughborough, then 11 years in the army cycling worldwide, left 7 years ago to move in with the better half in London. Since then had an office job working a lot with fleet and vehicle management / driver training, but was getting board so set myself up as amobile cycle mechani in the West London area.

So am here both as cyclist, for the banter and info, as a mechanic should anyone want to know more about something or chat about it, and a smidging of business should it come that way (and allowed).

Hi Mobytek - welcome to CycleChat.
As long as you are posting decent content, mentioning your business in passing when it fits with the content of the post is fine - overt advertising is not. However when you have made a few more posts you will be able to add a link to your business in your signature line (as in my link to a holiday cottage below).
Keep posting!
