Hi and :welcome: to everyone who has joined recently.

@felicidade there is a special section for LEJOG rides which is here: LINK. When you open that part of the forum you'll find a button marked "post a thread" on the right of screen below your user name which will allow you to start a new thread.

@Miss cannon, it usually takes a few rides to get used to the saddle when you first start cycling (or coming back to it after a long break). It will improve. If you find you still have problems, the saddle set up might need adjusting (they are designed to support best when set level and the height and reach will also make a difference to comfort) or the saddle might not suit you, but don't go spending money until you've given it a fair try.

Hi Folks,

Another new member around here at 46 (though I've lurked and taken advice second hand for a while).

I've always cycled, though it was hard-tail MTBs for years. Then, last year a mate suggested London to Brighton and suddenly I had a goal and was re-hooked.
Now there's a turbo trainer in the man-cave, with my first road bike permanently attached, a fleet of bikes in the garage and several thousand miles tracked on Endomondo (I've just got into Strava but prefer the wider range of sports tracking in Endomondo) and a worrying amount of Lycra in every wash.

Nice to know I'm not alone!

Dave ^_^

Hi guys!

Ill just copy and paste from my profile as it pretty much covered everything^^!

As stated I live in romford, I work as a barman in east ham and I commute 11 miles almost daily since april... I am glad to say ive noticed my fitness improving but I am very keen to improve further and I would like to get to know some bikers who are local to the romford area. Im very excited to meet a whole new community
Cheers

I am very interested in trying some group rides and learning more about pushbikes, I aqquired a Giant FCR3 after a motorcycle crash. I am still motorcycling however I plan to continue using the pushbike for my health benefit and for the thrill of pushing myself...I am 23 years of age and the last exercise I had done prior to the bike was at the age of 17.. so I would like to do my best to create and maintain a healthy lifestyle while I am still young.
I quit smoking after 5 years and believe I have gained the correct mindset to now make the best of myself

Thanks for reading guys and girls!

Hello

A few days ago I did an attempt at C2C2C in 24 hours, glad to say it was a success and wondered if anyone else had done anything like this before and if so how mine stacks up:

C2C2C, 238 miles in a total of 22.5 hours, left Tynemouth noon Saturday, got to Workington at half 9pm then was back at Tynemouth at 10.30am Sunday. Rolling time 17.5 hours so an average speed of 13.8mph, and total gain of 15,500ft.

Had a bit of a dull cloudy start and some slight tail wind, sun broke out near Shotley bridge which made climb out of Edmundbyers swealtering, first stop was Chatterbox Cafe at St John Chapel at 45 miles in. Then on over Killhope to Alston and Hartside, through Penrith to Greystoke Cycle Cafe (who kindly stayed open for me) for second stop about half 6 and 85 miles. Leaving there had a few light brief showers, through Keswick then onto the A66 all the way to Workington. Arrived at the lighthouse pier at 9.30 had a half hour rest then headed back with good daylight, and didn't get fully dark until Cockermouth. Was very pleased with my light for the darkness section, and for the assistance/escorting advice given by Cumbria Road Police for the support car. Next stop was at midnight in Keswick, thankfully had left mudguards and rain jacket on as caught very heavy downpour near Penrith. Next stop was Langwathby at 2am then on to Hartside. Had an 'off itinerary' half hour stop at the summit waiting for fog to clear and light to build enough for a safe descent into Alston, and unfortunately lashing rain which continued all the way to Stanhope. Stopped for a sugar hit to tackle Crawleyside Bank, mercifully all rain and wind ceased just in time, then carried on to Shotley Bridge for another brief stop and the welcome knowledge that all hills were done! Went through Rowlands Gill just before half 8 then on to the Tyne and the Quayside via the south side to avoid Sunday market closures, crossed at millennium bridge and had a final stop just after 9 at The Hub at Ouseburn. Stayed on 72 for final section along river into Tynemouth for a 10.30 finish.

Overall, a brilliant experience, a few personal records broken, was very glad of all the prep and training I did, and for the support team I had - honestly couldn't have done it without them!

Returned home pretty tired and sore, spent the next two days alternating between bath, bed and lots of food!

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

I once did a road race from Wallsend to Carlisle and back starting at 7am but cant remember how long it took however I did finish in the top 15 from over 250 cyclists, then back home to Houghton le spring done this ride within daylite hours. I think you did VERY well as it took me several days to do C2C2C2 with all the camping gear in a trailer. Congrats

Hey all, name's Hugo and I'm 17. Just joined the world of forums but I've cycled for a bit now, I commute with my fixed gear ('bout 20 miles a day) and enjoy weekend rides with a Giant defy 1 bought when I was 13.
Originally french, I've lived in Southwest London for 10 years now !
I'm currently looking for a new sweet roadie because I came across some money and I would welcome any and all advice !
