Hi all. Recently got my Cannondale c4 to commute to work (south London to central) and enjoying it so far, if a little intimidating. Spending loads of money on gear I didn't realise I needed (padded shorts etc), but all good :-)

Hello all,
I moved to Cardiff from London a few months ago and have been really excited to find all the trails around and about to ride on. I had a single speed town bike (Globe Roll 2) which I've modified to make it a bit more useful on tracks and up hills. The single gear is certainly getting me fit! But I'm also looking to get a some a bit more rugged for further afield.
Happy to join the forums!

Hello all. I am new here. Just started getting back into cycling properly, mainly as a way to lose some weight. Dusted my old MTB down at the start of the year to get my legs back. Decided I wanted to make a decent go of it so I went out and got myself a new bike. As I am carrying a bit of extra timber, to the tune of 20 stone I was worried that a road bike would get destroyed so I got myself a cyclocross (merida 4) at the start of June. So far I have lost a stone down to 20 from 21. That was when I decided to get a decent bike and go for it properly. So far this month I have done over 220km and I am loving it

you can see my progress here http://www.strava.com/athletes/3242383

My goal is to get to a 50mile ride by end of July and to try and work on my average speed currently languishing in the 14-15mph region.

Hello,

I recently discovered that cycling is my passion :-) At the moment I am getting ready for my first big trip (Land's End to John O'Groats). I am looking for people who would like to join me. My plan is to do it in 20 days max. :-)

Hi everyone

I have been riding for years - used to race - mostly TT and some road - now just for pleasure as I am semi-retired. Just put some new wheels on my old Specialized Sequoia road bike. Used to ride fixed around town for commuting etc - before it got popular - I learnt to ride fixed on the old Herne Hill track.
I went and bought a new Shimano cassette for my new wheels - however it is not the right ratios - so would be interested to sell or swap a 12-30 10-speed Shimano Tiagra 4600 for a 9-speed 12-25 similar one.

Hi everyone! I'm from Manchester and hoping to take part in some charity cycles this year! I did the Great Manchester Cycle last year (only 26 miles though!) Just though i'd pop in and say hello!
Hi Feen, are you doing the Great Manchester Cycle again? What was your time last year? I'm doing the 26 again and hoping to beat 1.35.

HI,Well done, go for rides little and often, gradually increasing the distance and your sit bones will soon toughen up. Some people like padded clothing and saddles but you have to find what is comfortable for your shape. I like a gel saddle but wearing padded shorts feels like I'm wearing a nappy! Lol!
Good luck

P.S. I read in another post and it makes sense, that as your legs get stronger they support more of weight so less pressure on your bum!
