Hi All, Newbie to this site. I am from South Staffs and love getting out on my mountain bilke (Scott GT). I have got back into cycling alot last year and have been putting in the miles with SkyRide.. and on my own. Have loved it so much I am on a training day soon with skyride and will be a skyride leader at the end of March. I am also buying a Specialzed Sectuer this week. I have tried a few out and can not wait to get back into road bikes. I am a young 44 year old male... (Mid life crisis possibly LOL). I am a conident rider but wouldnt say very expereinced..I certainly amd not very good at the mechanics. So I will be calling on your help. I look forward to speaking with you.

They have replied and will contact me when they next have a training session near to me.

I think about miles under my belt, right up to the point I look at the weather outside

Hi all, my name's Adam. I'm completely new to road cycling but am looking to get into it, mainly for fitness and to make a change from running. Don't even actually own any bike at the moment as cheap run around was stolen a few months ago  so in the market for something decent but cheap, and then something with a bit more of a budget behind it soon after that hopefully.

Any advice warmly welcomed.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Adam

I am also very new here and they seem a very friendly crowd

I guess the best bike is one you can afford to buy and get out to ride on.

Other than that, what budget do you have?

Thanks for the reply. Budget of about £1000 for a decent road bike I guess - still don't quite get what you get for your money with the different prices of bikes. Also looking for something cheap that I can use day to day rather than going out on longer rides as I don't think I'd really want to lock up and leave a more expensive bike! But then again even with that I don't want something thats going to fall apart after a month.

What would you say is the most important thing when you look for a bike?

:hello: Adam.

If you're in the market for an inexpensive road bike can I be the first to suggest the Triban 3 from Decathlon, which is the best bargain out there at the moment and is soon to be replaced by the white Triban 3A which isn't as nice a spec.
