Hello. :-)

Been reading CC a lot lately as I try to decide what the best way to get back into cycling after a ten year gap (due to ill health and moving 10500 miles) so I figure I might as well join rather than just lurk. The biggest hassle I foresee is getting used to the madness of central Nottingham after the wonderful tarmacked but off road cycle paths of Canberra, Oz where I used to live.

Hi and :welcome:
Yes. I suppose it will be a bit of a shock to the system after Canberra:smile:
Never mind. I'm sure if you take it carefully at first you'll soon get into the swing of it.
Any ideas about what bike you might get?

Thank you.

Might follow the cult and get a Triban 3, having had a quick ride on a 57 framed one I had a huge grin on my face - mostly because it felt like a vastly improved version of my ancient Speedwell tourer.

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

As a newly registered member you won't be able to add it to the Events calendar, but you can add the details to the Charity Rides forum (if you haven't already).

Cheers,
Shaun

Morning all

This slightly flabby 45 year old could do with a little advice if possible.

I live near Preston Lancashire and have been mountain biking in the dales lakes scotland etc for about 8 years (well falling off into the mud at least)

I have done a bit of road riding and really enjoy that as well

Events I did last year were the Manchester Blackpool and Norwich 100

I am looking to find a local group / club for me and my better half to ride out with, preferably on Saturdays. We wouldn't want to be out with racing whippets, because I can't race and I am anything but whippet like

Any thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated

Hi,

I am new to the forum and returning to cycling - as many do when their waist measurement starts catching their age. My main interest is retro and i currently have a -
Raleigh Rapide owned from new
Forme Longcliffe - bought last year
Van Tuyl - ready for rebuild
Rossin Prestige Team - F+F - building soon
Gazelle Champion Mondial - next build after the Van
and a few other bits and pieces which i am pondering about.

Thanks for reading.
