Hello and welcome. Glad that you have deceided to take up cycling. It's true, there are all sorts out there trying to sell you bikes. But you don't have to spend magabucks. Try finding one in the second hand listings like ebay or Preloved. There are bargains to be had, but a lot of junk too. Try to get a well preserved example.

You can get just as much enjoyment from an oldie! All my bikes are at least twenty years old but are great to ride.

It will be my third time living in Japan, first time getting there by bike. The plan is to ride from Florida to California, fly to Tokyo, and then ride on to Kyoto. Summer 2014. Anyone care to join me? It's for a good cause: the orphans of the Tohoku region (tsunami 2011).
