Um, hello :hello:

I joined t'other day, looking for advice on which bike to buy, then I went out and rashly bought the bike, the first I've been on since...er...the last century!

I seem to have hung around though, and now there's this new Gardening forum too.

(I shall whisper it here, though I'm keeping quiet over there in case I get asked something I don't, but should know, I work in the family garden centre. :secret: Tell no-one. )

Hi all. I rode regularly up to 12-15years ago. Today, 3 stone greater, I think I better start riding again especially as my work commute would only be about 2 miles each way.
I'm from north Bristol.

Hello to all...

This is my second post on the forum, I have kinda gone the wrong way round and what not. Anyway.

Screen name FelixStarsofsky, real name Oliver. I'm a Royal Marine Commando who has just come back to Afghanistan after 2 weeks R&R with my fiancee in Devon. I didn't leave without doing the typical guy thing and "P" the missis off my spending £330 of our wedding money on a nice shiny new Carrera Gryphon (with bling dics brakes haha) from Halfords. Despite my best efforts to convince her that it was a good move because I w
Take care, Oliver

My name is John. I am an expat living in West Africa, Ghana. Cycling here is not as bad as you might think. Apart from the poor (or non existant) roads you can find yourself quite a good old bike from the containers full they bring from the US and Europe. Mountain Bikes proliferate as you might imagine but I have found a few racers including a Dawes. I also have a Gary Fisher, Marin hybrid, Giant CFR and a Schwinn racer, mostly picked up for 50 - 70 quid. I enjoy mostly local rides and haven't ventured too far yet.

Hope to keep up with what is going on at home and feed my appetite for vintage bikes.

Welcome. Interesting post. It's true Halfords get some pretty bad press but they must be doing something right somewhere. Did you consider buying elsewhere? Anyway have fun. Sorry tried to post before but it went wrong, maybe cause I'm using a phone.

Hi, newbie here from South Derbyshire! :hello:

Got back into cycling after a long lay off and can't believe I've left it so long! I have a hybrid atm and just do local rides between 10-30 miles to build up fitness but will ultimately look to upgrade and do longer rides.

Look forward to meeting new folks and sharing information and experiences as well! :bicycle:

Hey everyone, just joined the forum.

I'm 24 from northern Ireland and I'm about to buy my first road bike. I've been looking at a Wilier Montegrappa Soro for £650. I'm not sure if it is a good bike for the price. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm sure its a great bike, I've never spent as much on a bike as that, prefering older bikes. Just make sure you get the right size for you. Try it out if you can and make sure you feel comfortable, rather than buying on line.

Good luck.

Hello. Getting back on my road bike. Lost a bit of motivation a couple years back but hopefully got it back.
Looking over the site seems a good resource of information.
