Hi Folks
My name is Ken (C7KEN 0n here) originally from Scoland (the house I grew up in was ridden past by the tour of Britain a few days ago) I had a heart op 10 years ago which somewhat floored me but January this year picked up my sons moutain bike a Saracen Zen 3 and decided to start again, within one week I joined a group and the first ride was 63 kms with some big hills (I forgot to say I now live in Spain) I was knackered, however I kept going and now have a Moda Alto hybrid (love it) lost 4.5 kilos and feel much fitter, hills are still hard but maybe in another six months they will get easier. I'm 70 yrs old, had a triple heart bypass, taken statins for ten years which has done harm to my muscles but in the months since I started I have made very good progress and I will post some of the things which I feel have helped me a lot in the fitness section and it may help others

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Good, Ken! Congratulations. I'm very glad to hear you are still pedaling. It really is a pleasure. I love it, too. I'll be 50 next year, have been cycling for...well, all my life. Looking at a cross-country trip in 2014 (Florida to California) and then on to Japan.

Hello everyone,
I have posted a couple of questions and they have been answered. Thanks.
Looking forward to learning a lot more about cycling and hoping to meet a few of you out and about. I have filled most of my profile in already today so i wont repeat any of it here.

Hi All,
My name is Chris, always been a on and off casual cyclist. In June I decided to undertake a charity cycle ride out of the blue I think to put myself out of my comfort zone leaving in June 2013 going solo and unsupported. I've never travelled alone and decided to take 2 months out to cycle around 4000 miles from London, through France, Luxembourg, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, France (again), Andorra and Spain. I've deliberately made it hard for myself going over The Alps (hoping to ride up the Stelvio Pass if it is open), The Pyrenees and The Alpujarras as I want to try and raise as much as I can - will post the details somewhere else here if you guys do not mind

Having never anything like this before I'm hoping to find people who have tips, tricks and ideas for diets, training and anyone who has put up tents anywhere and everywhere. Feeling like a logistical nightmare already - but then perhaps thats part of the challenge.

Cheers.

Hello!

So I've found my way onto here whilst looking for reviews, some very helpful thoughts (thanks everyone!)

I'm fairly new to the road bike family, I converted only 6months ago and now find myself having to look for a new bike again - all too soon - as mine was stolen last week

Anyway, hello everyone!

Hi All

Have to say this is my first post. I thing that I should start telling you a bit about myself. I have been cycling recreational man and boy. Not competitive. I just enjoy being out getting the exercise and seeing things. I used in the early years cycle to work but as you it was not cool so got myself a car as my income increased then I stopped this cycling that I used to enjoy. So drove everywhere which I am totally ashamed about now but I suppose most everyone has there miss guided years. Changed jobs and cars and drove longer and longer to work every day and at times night. Became totally lazy regarding them bike. I even got myself a Motor Cycle How cool is that. And toured Far and near on it.

I have to add I was a Fitter Electrician but with eyesight failing and to a certain extent I retrained and now work in an office now. But anyway. After I sopped doing Tech stuff for a living I finally had a change. With the dwindling natural resorces in the world today It finally hit me that I should be doing my bit. So Have stopped driving a car nearly altogether. I live about 2 miles from my work but I add another 13 miles to it every morning and another 10 on the way home. I Love it. I am more alert I have lost all the weight I gained . I can do a better days work and nothing is too much trouble. I have to say it is a complete Life changing experience.

I am totally convinced that there are far too many cars on the road and no matter how dear the petrol is the do not deminsh. The cars are getting bigger and faster and the drivers are getting more selfish and impatient. Cyclists have to ride defensively. I have to say I do. I wear my florescent coat and have lights flashing everywhere. I feel some one has to start.

So enough of my rant and preaching. Bottom line is that I love cycling. If more people did it we would have a better world and we would be a more chilled out people. I have never seen bike rage or may be I am wrong.

That is me now and thanks for letting me join

Hi all!
I'm Eva and this is my first post, although I have to admit I've already used lots of advice given through this forum (mostly technical and a few bike reviews). Currently I'm in transition from MTB to Road cycling after my cycling holidays in Majorca last summer (where I totally fell in love with RC).
It has been quite a journey and I never thought the transition to be that difficult and confusing in so many ways, but hey ho! enjoying -almost- every minute of it and looking forward to learning more through your posts.. :girldance:
