Not my first post as I have just spotted this thread .....
Hi I'm Kam from Iver Heath, South Bucks. Got back into cycling after a 20 year break, and at the moment using a cheap Giant mountain bike. Mainly riding the local roads for pleasure as I work in Central London, so commuting is not for me.
I'm hoping to gradually increase my time in the saddle and join others on rides in my generic area. Seen a Sunday morning group go through Iver up to Pinewood Studios but was travelling in my car the other way. (are you in that group?)

...... More soon :-)

Hi, I'm Selena, and this is my first post. This website was recommended to me by my new friend, Steve, on Cycling Buddys.
I have recently taken up cycling properly again this year, and I can't believe the technology and clubs that are available now, which make it so much more motivational. When I was a kid, there was one local club, who just dragged me up hilly, muddy tracks, and put me off, and you certainly didn't hear of any events other than the infamous London to Brighton.
I did my first organised ride on 1/4 this year of 19 miles, plus 13 with the cycle home and back, and due to my new Odometer (something I've never owned before), I found myself racing to see how quickly I could do the event.
As a result of this, in addition to a recently purchased hybrid, I now have a road racer on order. Oh goodness, I think I really have the bug now, nind out credit card!
I'm really hoping to find some cycling pals in my area for some days of leisure riding (determined to keep using my hybrid), mixed in with some more ambitious days of training for a sportive. Would be great to aim for 100k, but it's early days. Feel free to say, "Hi!" :bicycle:

Thank you, that's reassuring, looking forward to trying out those cleats! HA! I've never been on a forum before, haven't really got a clue where I'm going or what I'm doing, just typing frantically. God, I'm an 80's child!!

Hello.

As the name suggests, I'm from Glasgow and nowadays ride primarily as a means of getting to/from work. I've recently bought a recumbent so will be looking for advice and tips from the other recumbent owners here. My other bikes are a Trek1000 and a Trek Fuel 80, neither of which get the exercise they deserve. Oh, and my daily hack before I got the recumbent was my old Trek 850 which I've had since new in 1996.

Hi everyone, new to bike riding. Currently on an old 18kg mountain bike, will be getting a Hybrid soon.

Decision to hit the roads brought about by a desire to save on bus fares after the wife went out of work  , but mainly to lose some weight (hence the username ^_^).

Anyway, I hope to be getting the benefit of your experience about equipment etc.

Happy cycling,

Thanks
Andy

Hey I'm Don, new to the forum obviously. Just joined as I'm looking for a way to find a good new home for my 70s road bike as I'm hoping to modernise a bit and get with the times. If you're interested head on over to the classifieds section.

Oh I don't seem to have enough posts to post in classifieds yet but I would consider trading so I have put the bike in there if anyone is interested.

Hi Oliver,

As a woman who cycles and a mother of a forces boy, let me say you have done the very best thing. It's not as if you will buy a bike every week is it? I wouldn't expect anything less of you. You probably spend more on kit so just explain the gym is'nt up to scratch so you need to exercise on route home. I know many who have done worse......... One friend whispered to his wife at the church door as they walked out from getting married... 'I will meet you at the hotel. Won't be long'. He was next seen 8 weeks later. He had gone down to a shop that built Marin bikes, paid for the bike he was having made (that she did not know about) and cycled to the coast and on to follow the Tour de France. Then had to work in a cafe to get the money to return. He told his brother, but the younger was too scared to tell the new sister in law where he was. So just said he had some business to attend and he was safe. His wife has never really understood - we don't mention bikes when she's about.

Hope you have a great time on your bike. You could always get a tandum on your return and go on holiday to Holland or somewhere flattish as your first accompanied tour.

Hi Does anyone know do you have to zero it after every trip and then re-enter time and wheel size before setting off again or can you keep both time and wheel size and just delete last run? only had it a few days nad it is great except for this not a massive problem but not ideal.
