Can't say I have heard of rock salmon. I have come across dog fish. I caught a few over the years when I used to go fishing off the rocks years ago. Don't remember them being very nice.

Quite a strong-flavoured fish, if I remember correctly, but with a pretty large spine so perhaps not technically a fillet.

On the train from Stuttgart to Karlsruhe. After a weekend involving a dance recital from Beautiful Daughter. The train is on time and the w-lan works. Bog's out of order though. I think they put the notice on the door in the factory.

Back in my apartment.

Deutsche Bahn seem to think they're doing well to achieve two out of the three above.

Train 1: (Stuttgart-Karlsruhe) Wlan, Punctual, no bog.
Train 2: (Karlsruhe Offenburg) No W-Lan, Punctual, Working bog.
Train 3: (Offenburg-Freiburg) W-Lan, Stopped for a rest for about ten minutes in the middle of nowhere, working Bog (at least people kept going in and out).

It's noticeable that the older trains seem to work where it's important, even if the W-lan doesn't. According to an announcement on one of the stations the ten minute delay was for "repairs to the train", which is worrying especially as they're brand new.

Also slightly annoying the way DB announces "All planned connections will be met" as if they've somehow pulled out all the stops and achieved something out of the ordinary.

There are several varieties of dogfish and there was a market for them in English chip shops. One boat operated out of here for quite a while line fishing for them and seemed to get a reasonable return.
Not tried any for years but one variety seemed not too bad but I cannot remember which one now.
I used to get conger in my creels sometimes and one guy was frequently asking for any I got as he liked them. Normally along with dogfish I just tipped them back into the sea. Conger were an acquired taste but just about edible.

I have yet to brave this cold on a bike.
I got back from NZ a week ago and the transition from Kiwi midsummer to a UK winter was unwelcome.
I did some cycling out there on a borrowed Trek (that doesn't fit me very well.

And we did some flying with our host.
This is the end of Lake Taupo, with Mt Ruapehu visible. At nearly 2800m, it has the North Islands only glaciers.

It's impossible to take photos from a Cessna 172 without largely taking photos of a Cessna 172.

I think I saw you heading into Great Wymondley from the Graveley road.
I was in the rather muddy Pug 308 estate going the other way.

Not me, just my extremely attractive twin

Have been completely confused where a light grey jumper had disappeared to and had also misplaced a small laptop style keyboard, or at least that was until this afternoon when I realised what I thought down the back of the bed was an old plastic laptop tray was actually the light underside of the keyboard at an angle over the jumper :okay:

Is DB still cheap? I got the Dusseldorf to Amsterdam several times, £25 return, 2hrs20mins, and great food onboard!
