I've been to Oulton Park a couple of times, both just after the modifications were made at Knickerbrook. Even then it was possible to imagine the speeds that could be reached on the approach with no second chicane after the Shell Oils hairpin - the video has a couple of very short clips at 7:55 to give an idea.
IIRC the F3000 cars were hitting 140-something miles an hour on the approach to Knickerbrook.
