Much fun yesterday: Middle Manager turned up. He's a good manager but occasionally has daft ideas, an yesterday was one of those days.
We have some big shelves designed for pallets. I'm not sure why as we don't use them for pallets but bike parts. Middle Manager decides that we should take the ten or so boxed new bikes from the shelf made for them elsewhere in the building, and park them under lower shelf.
We point out that this will make the bike shelf too high to use comfortably.
Manager tells us to use a step.
Spend a morning raising the shelf and replacing bike parts on shelf. Now we have a shelf that is too high to reach.
Move bikes underneath. Shelf is 1m deep. Bike boxes are at least 1m 20 long. They are not permitted to stick out from under the shelves so we turn them parallel to the wall.
This way three bikes fit, the rest are left on the old shelves.
So ne we have bikes spread around the building, and an inaccesible shelf full of parts.
We are waiting to see how long it takes Area Manager to realise this was a bad idea.
