Good morning. Looks like we have your second-hand weather again, which means the Brompton will need a shower tonight.

In other news, I've bought a new memory stick for work, because the issues with the new cloud based computer network have still not been resolved. It takes half an hour to save anything, another half hour to find it again, and an hour to attach it to an email; everyone is getting a stick so we can just keep the files we need on hand and pass them on to colleagues as needed.

Management and the IT Department are getting increasingly irate about this but failing to come up with any solution apart from "Well it just works if you use it correctly"

To add to the jollity, now some of the laptops won't connect. As the new system only works online, this means we have to either wait until it decided to bother connecting, or use one of the older computers that still use the old system. We can't even work on documents on the memory stick because even to use office on the new system we have to be online... Yay progress...

Good morning from the 11th floor of a hotel in Leeds. It looks very Yorkshire weather wise out there.

Time to head into the city centre to get some breakfast I think.
Talk of the Brudenell has sent me back to look for what's left of my old Queen's Road primary school. Only grey stone gate entrances, now entrances to some parkland because the playgrounds are well gone.

Another Monday completed successfully. I made several attempts to call the line provider today to report my parents' landline fault but was told things like "you are number 147 in the queue..." So I declined to wait as I was at work. Then mysteriously, the line and the broadband came back into service this evening. I do wonder if they had a power problem at the exchange as it didn't lose dial tone until the following evening after the storm.

Not sure how exchange power is managed these days but distribution seems to be increasingly over fibre rather than copper, so I would suspect it could be power going out on one or more distribution cabinets in the area.

Sneaker net is always reliable.

Office 365? It's Micro$oft's money making wheeze. Subscription based computing.

Forgot to mention, Cassie returned to the vet yesterday. Her foot has mostly healed but there is still a cut that will need to be bathed for a while & a reduced dose of pain killer. Shorter walks on grass are allowed, which suits me, as my hip is still hurting. I'm avoiding the area on the new estate that hasn't been completed as I think that's where she got hurt.

To watch her tearing about you'd think there's no problem!
