Sorry to hear of your loss, ride free @oldwheels

The weather brightened up a bit before clouding over again. I managed to get out on my Boardman to visit my brother. It is 6 days since I last rode my bike. The roads were nice and muddy from agricultural traffic.
On my way back home I passed a policeman who had just got out of his car. I then chatted to a couple of walkers who said that he was armed. I cycled on and then heard a helicopter landing. Somebody very important must have been visiting.

A somewhat raw day here chez Casa Reynard, but made better by a few hours of bright sunshine before it clouded over again.

Slept well and slept in, but I am still so very tired. I'm thinking that I probably won't repeat buying two large turkeys on sticker in future - not because I couldn't get the meat into the freezer, but because it's been so much bloody hard work processing the birds. I've just finished clarifying and straining the stock, and shoving it into the utility room fridge. That's after picking the second carcass clean this morning. I still need to portion out about three quarters of a kilo of meat and freeze as much of that as I can. The remainder will end up in a curry.

I did get 10 kilos of meat off those two birds, but I don't count my time in doing it. Although I will say that I did make a rod for my own back here, but the stars that made it possible for me to buy two (the price glitch and not having to play tug-of-turkey) will likely not ever align again.

I also emptied the trailer in the garage and stacked the wood ready for cutting up into smaller chunks. Tomorrow I will have to go out and bring in another trailer of firewood on account of a) the rather crappy weather forecast midweek, and b) the forecast cold snap.

Luncheon was a "see what's in the fridge and eat it" kind of thing - a chunk of cranberry-topped pork pie, a slice of bread with the last of the herrings in cream sauce, an orange and a :cuppa: of course. Supper will likely be a similar procedure.

Sat by the fire with a :cuppa: before spending some time to scan, print and prepare a lace pattern for the parental.

Sending *HUGS* from us girls here chez Casa Reynard, Neil. We're sorry for your loss.

I'm another one who always enjoyed reading @oldwheels' adventures and astute observations on life. And I shall miss them. Will be raising a mug of tea in his honour later xxx
