Sunny and a smidge warmer than it has been.
Work visit north east of Ripon this morning seemed fine till I got back to WAH and found the copy of the documentation was wrongly dated. Oh well back again next week.
Motorists in Ripon were their normal incompetance - got cut up at a mini roundabout, seemed to be me a car turning right into the road I was exiting gave me the right of way but not so to those turning right from the facing direction.
Then having popped into Morrisons and I had reversed half a cars length out of the parking space only then to get blasted by the horn of car whose driver plainly did not understand giving way to cars exiting spaces.
Two cyclists seen further south.
Checked the Morrisons app once home - needed to spend at least £2 on mince pies to gain some bonus points towards a Morrisons Fiver but no account of the £2.50 spent. Checking it turned out the offer on "All Morrisons Mince Pies" (seems clear to me) did not on its list of inclusions include the Morrisons Mince Pies I had bought! Subsequent private messaging hopefully has addressed the matter.
Then WAH was hindered by a failed connection eventually resolved by IT.

Turned out not a bad day so far as weather was concerned.
Snow did not come and when I went out mid morning my car windscreen was clear of frost.
Not so good on my usual trike route tho' as it is reported as very icy and blocked on a hairpin bend by a stuck lorry.
Bert is coming to get us as Calmac have cancelled the last ferry tonight and the first one tomorrow and everything is on yellow alert.
Had a short walk down at the marina where I saw for the first time in ages a cormorant near the shore which caught a fair sized fish and came up to turn and swallow the unfortunate. There used to be lots of them but the marina has driven them away with so much activity.
Did not seem to bother the otter who lived under the pontoons. Wildlife "guides "claim they are very shy animals but that does not tie in with my observations.
A motorhome was parked with the front blocking the pavement down there and among all the stickers on it the most prominent said " As seen on TV"

Early morning walk to the gym was interesting , once id got out the door greeted by sheet ice with black ice thrown in for a laugh.
1st challenge to make it to the main side road that link our bit to main road. As that is gritted ( I made sure it stayed on the list when they reviewed them). Once on main road it was walk in the road or fall over. So made it to the pocket park once to the other end question was how to get access to the road to the gym. It was a total ice sheet so staying close to the edge made it to the road and walked up to the gym. Once done it was time for the all over again.

Next challenged later in the morning was how to make it to the other school I now work at for a training meeting.
The worse part was the new active travel route they put in to great fanfare, which was total ice on the ramp and entrance to the railway bridge. Ice was thick and wide lucky it has a hand rail , so it was hang on and hope fro the best. Using the crossing over the road was equally taxing again ice sheet from one to the other. Once done time to get back home.

Turned into a day of ice and hope to stay up right as I had t call into town and back. The evening walk was a short one as I was not risking it again so went round the way that was mostly ok due to being a bit more sheltered.

I've done that too, but I dislike them when cycling because of Sweaty Back Syndrome. Also, they get in the way of my Akubra brim.
You're wearing one or both items incorrectly in that case.

The brim on an Akubra goes down over my collar, so any water runs down outside your clothes; it's very practical and makes rainy cycling much more comfortable. Unfortunately, where the brim sits, interferes with my backpack when it is fully loaded.
You can't adjust the brim of your hat so that it doesn't rub against the rucksack, or maybe get a larger rucksack(For shopping) that sits lower down your back?

All rail tickets now sorted for February's long weekend away and hotel booked for June's outing which should be the end of the major expenditure for November.
Lovely couple of hours out this afternoon in the sunshine, but I could have done without the bitterly cold headwind for the first hour. Taking it much easier on the still damp bits in case of ice - since retiring I'm out of practice in bad weather riding and if I do go down i don't bounce, it's more like thud these days.

A sunny but chilly day here chez Casa Reynard. And we did have a tiddly bit of snow overnight - it might have snowed for all of ten minutes LOL!

Slept well. Spent the morning doing some adulting and refilling all the wood bins in the house. Went out into town this afternoon to do some errands, test out a theory and to pick up some christmasy bits. I like to get ahead on those items I like to have in for the holidays to avoid the dreaded "out of stock" thing. Doubly important now that the Polish shop at the top of St Mary's Street has closed down.

The theory I wanted to test was checking out what time they did the reductions in Waitrose. I used to sticker in there back in the day, but then, they shut at 6pm. So you'd go for half four and you could pick up really good bargains. I did get lucky today. No fish worth taking seeings it was Friday (there were three packs of fishcakes, so a bit meh), but I did pick up some soused herrings from the deli counter, some samosas, three packs of bulgur wheat for my store cupboard and some pork chops.

Mac & cheese and green beans for supper.

Now having a quiet evening watching the darts.
