@biggs682 had the sit-down, I did the Brighouse 😂
Well I hope you had a sit-down once you got back.

Much chillier and still no sunshine today - needed long finger gloves and an additional thin upper body layer while out shopping on the bike this afternoon. I think the Buff will also be pressed into action soon.

I was hoping that I'd be able to take the later than normal (weekday) local train to Ipswich tomorrow morning as there's a bit more leeway timewise for the connection to Peterborough and it won't be delayed by late runnuing freight trains. However the first train of the day out of Felixstowe is the only one that can be taken by footballing types to get to London in time for the Ipswich/Tottenham match and the crowding is likely to cause a delay to the one I was hoping to take, so I may just have to take the early one and sit on Ipswich Station for an hour just to be safe.

The sausages sound good. Being teetotal, the status of the wine department is of no interest. :blush:

A long time spent abroad explains for me why wine has such a significant part to play in my life.
Even today a day without wine is a day without sunshine.
But I have managed going dry for Lent for a few seasons.
My real achievement would be the Everest of doing Advent dry.
Might make a post if I feel I can hack it.

I did used to drink in my teens and early 20s, but never that much. It was more that it was expected of me as my father's daughter - Polish culture is very alcohol-centric. If I'm perfectly honest though, I've never really cared for the taste, and when I learned to drive, I just simply fell out of the habit. I don't miss it.

What's also coloured my outlook is that both my late father and late uncle were very heavy drinkers, and my father, in particular, was a violent drunk. Both I and my mother ended up on the receiving end of his fists plenty enough times. And in the end, the combination of alcohol and cigarettes did for both men. It's first hand experience that's enough to put you off imbibing.
