Hospital on normal appointment time c 50 min late. Consultant rings the in hospital Lloyds pharmacy so I can pick up the latest set of tablets this afternoon. Will be upto a hour I was told.Went a got a tea and then had the bright idea of walking to Lidl for the bananas not acquired from M&S yesterday. That accomplished and now around 45 minutes on from the "upto a hour" chanced the Lloyds pharmacy who after a search declared they had only got the prescription in the last 10 minutes!
So another tea whilst waiting.

Can private cars have flashing Stop lights?
Cycling along today a Mercedes overtook me then braked for a Stop sign. As his Stop lights came on a bright flashing light, as bright as a rear fog light, started flashing and stopped when the brake lights turned off. The flashing was very intensive and distracting too.
The flashing light was mounted central under the rear bumper .

The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989
state
'Lamps to show a steady light
13.—(1) Save as provided in paragraph (2), no vehicle shall be fitted with a lamp which automatically emits a flashing light.

(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply in respect of–

(a)a direction indicator;

(b)a headlamp fitted to an emergency vehicle;

(c)a warning beacon or special warning lamp;

(d)a lamp or illuminated sign fitted to a vehicle used for police purposes;

(e)a green warning lamp used as an anti-lock brake indicator; or

(f)lamps forming part of a traffic sign."

I doubt brake or stop lights are considered warning beacons so the answer would be no.

The Highway Code does allow cyclists to use flashing lights.
