So thought I'd pick up my form from the Dr , Mrs 73 then gives me list of things she needs for her work snap. So off to town via the Dr's, only to find at Poundland the card machines are not working. Not all bad it's turned into a lovely sunny day so basically ended up doing a nice circular walk.

A mild and occasionally sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

I did not sleep well. My brain wouldn't switch off, and I found myself tossing and turning quite a bit. It was half five in the morning when I last checked the clock. Must've dropped off eventually, but I do feel a bit fuzzy-headed.

Did a load of laundry this morning, and the crock pot is locked and loaded with an Italian sausage ragu. (Been watching Pasta Grannies vids on the Book of Faces while stuck in bed feeling poorly) Also stripped two of my tomato plants of their remaining fruits and have spread them in a cardboard tray.

Picked up a bargain on the Bay of E this morning too - an NSA stainless steel watch bracelet for a fiver. I don't particularly want the Jean Renet (Watches of Switzerland own brand) quartz watch it's attached to, but this was far too good to pass up given how much new-old-stock NSA bracelets usually sell for. FYI, these are the bracelets fitted as standard to Rado and Zodiac watches, but that were also available to buy aftermarket - I have one on a Baylor tank, and it's supremely comfortable. Very satisfying paying the same for a really expensive bracelet than for a new el-cheapo.

Had wholemeal bread, butter and chicken liver pate for luncheon, along with a nectarine and a :cuppa:

Just sat down for a bit to recharge the batteries (and listening to England v SA in the T20 cricket) and in a little while, I shall pootle off to the community orchard for a gentle bimble in a lovely space.

Day in Northallerton - Had a lift from the office and decided to walk there arriving surprisingly smack on the agreed 08.30. Strava describes it as my fastest and steepness.
Meant to have been some sort of team building exercise so I best lie if asked and not say the highlight was the lunchtime shop in a real fullish sized Tesco.
Cupboard now bursting with freefrom chocolate sponge puds impossible to buy locally. Always seems to me to be the correct pud to follow fried mackerel.
Dropped off on my way back so that trek was around a third less.

Nice sunny day and sat in my garden for a while this afternoon where I fell sleep.

Does not affect me but a mainland road I use has been shut due to a one vehicle accident. This is on the main road north from Connel Bridge where I join it for a sprint to the cycle path. Very fast traffic and a right angle bend with the entrance to a large caravan site do not go well together and I sprint between bursts of vehicles from the traffic lights at Connel about half a mile from the Moss Road to the path which I do not always manage in time to avoid dodgy overtaking.
One casualty but not reported as fatal.

On a lighter note the world champion stone skimmer is for the first time an Irishman. This is an annual charity event at Easdale with very specific rules.

On Lewis cruise ships are causing problems with bus loads of passengers at the Blackhouse Village where there is not much in the way of parking. Add lots of motorhomes and chaos ensues.
This is a somewhat sanitised demo of how people lived in the the highlands and islands in the past. We were not impressed when we did stop there briefly some years ago. My wife had Lewis ancestral connections so we knew more than was shown and I have Sutherland ancestors where I spent all summer holidays as a schoolboy.

Day one of the working week complete. Actually a very nice day here. I'm thinking about a ride but on the other hand I feel a bit tired. I just need to motivate myself to do these things. I used to cover a lot of training miles in the dark for many years but I find it difficult to motivate myself to do that these days.

Time to feed the cat, and then it will be time to feed me.

had a dinner party. we were nervous about all the activity w/ the new kitten. after not long we decided to lock her in one of our bedrooms, which happens to have a separate litter box, water, some kibble / crunchies, comfy bed & a window perch. after dinner, before dessert, we let her out. big mistake. she wound up w/ a single claw in a guest's fancy slacks & there ya go, fancy pants aren't so fancy anymore. anyway Wifey later texted an offer for $$ but we haven't heard back *sigh* little Rosey, you rascal!
