Just back from a week of cycling in Normandy.
Highlights included a lovely converted railway line, many pancakes, and visiting Wafflycat (formerly of this parish).
I've now done just under 1000 km on my electrified touring bike. Still very pleased with it.

Very wet walk home from the gym this morning , so started the day having to change and dry off. Luckily by the time I went to town later it was all but clear and just the odd bit of light rain. Very muggy day all round with rain always possible for most of the day. I thought i'd call into our local Tesco for some milk. On way home for my afternoon walk , only to find every fridge was empty with signs on saying fridge broken down.
So not sure when it happened but looks like they have to bin the whole lot. Will have to add milk to the list of things for tomorrow.

Works been none stop on the farm bungalow both gabble ends have now gone, how they can build onto what's left I don't know.
Now the roof is off you can see the big barn in the yard , ive noticed they've Made a big hole in the roof. Now question is what they done with the Asbestos they've broken off ? Oh and for some reason they've got a lorry cab park up too and another caravan.

A lazy day with nothing much achieved. Rain stayed off but only went as far as my wheelie bins.

Motorhomes are getting more detested in most areas now.
Skye is trying to impose a levy on them and the NC 500 is reported as being awash with sewage from toilet discharges and Isle of Harris is not friendly either.
I did see one in our main car park who stopped over a rainwater drain and was clearly discharging something into it. A delivery lorry couldn't get past and there was an acrimonious exchange of views before they shut off the discharge and moved away.

Shetland has a new problem in that tourists are using the local bus services in such numbers that local residents cannot get on to go about their daily business.
Those who maintain that we would all starve to death without mass tourism never seem to recognise that we managed perfectly well with the modest numbers of the past. We did not have loads of money grabbers then setting up shop but just normal useful shops like grocers, butchers and bakers etc.
Forestry was big employer but that has been replaced largely by fish farms.

It's been a day of sunshine and the occasional biblical-grade shower here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well and had a bit of a sleep in. Had an early luncheon (filled roll and a :cuppa: ) and tootled off to Tesco for a spot of yellow stickering. I needed to head that way anyway as I a) forgot to dispose of the soft plastics on Tuesday, b) I forgot to buy a block of cooking cheddar on Tuesday, and c) the car was wanting some go-juice.

Final reductions were abysmal. There was a fair bit of stuff, particularly in the bakery and in the fruit & veg, but there was hardly anything off most things, so a lot wasn't actually worth taking. I did pick up some beansprouts, crumpets, HCB and five dented cans of assorted beans, so not a complete washout. I'm suspecting a new manager in store again, as major changes in stickering policy generally tends to coincide with a new broom at the helm. On the flip side, no regulars other than the two people who normally only do the Sunday.

Stopped off in Waitrose on the way home, as I wanted to bag a handful of their free weekly newspaper thingy, as I'm clean out of newspaper to line my storage trays. They were doing final reductions in there when I arrived, and had a much better time of it. Picked up sea bass fillets, venison burgers, sausage rolls, two bunches of leeks, a papaya, four kiwi fruit and a squishy French cheese.

Anyways, it's time to feed the cat, and then it will be time to feed me.

A lazy, relaxing weekend has been had. Managed about 60 miles on the bike over the two days. I also replaced the knackered dynamo (with one the three million spares I have in box of random cycle components) on my mountain bike in preparation for winter but I don't ride it that much over the winter anyway. My single speed is easier to maintain.

I understand the problem with these Axa traction dynamoes is that they have a zener diode to protect the bulbs in the ye olde incandescent days and it packs up. In which I must open it and source a replacement.

I'm out for my usual Sunday night music fix now.:music:
