Used to tie the shorn fleece, having cleared the worst off, then tie them.Just had another experimental meal. Rice with frozen green peas and raisins microwaved plus bits of pork and apple sausage and a bit of Stornoway black pudding fried then mixed in. Very nice.
I notice the sheep in the field opposite have been shorn and one has a hoody crow sitting on it’s back.
I used to help at my grandfather’s croft and my job was to pack the fleeces into enormous hessian sacks and jump inside them to pack the wool tighter when they were hanging from a beam. They went to Hunter’s of Brora woollen mill.
No longer done as wool is falling out of fashion and the price is that low that letting the fleeces rot is cheaper.
